My happy a$$ will be in my car, driving the 8 hours to Eldora Speedway to watch the All Stars. Everyone should just join me out there and watch a good race.

50% chance means most likely a race at Eldora. Mother Nature has a way of missing the track sometimes. It's all about respect.

holy crap that sucks! it can be a big risk driving to these races. i try to stay in about a 100 mile radius nowadays. tomorrow at Beaver Dam is only 45 miles. of course i'll be pretty disappointed if they cancel but it won't be because of the drive.

Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Event At Knoxville Raceway Postponed One Week By Inclement Weather
KNOXVILLE, IA — April 25, 2008 — The Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series event scheduled for Saturday, April 26 at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa has been postponed one week due to inclement weather, including a mixture of rain, sleet and snow that has left track officials insufficient time to prepare the racing surface.
The event has been rescheduled for Saturday, May 3, setting up an exciting weekend of racing for the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series that will test the drivers versatility, beginning on Friday, May 2 at U.S. 36 Raceway in Cameron, Missouri, which is one of just two tracks on the World of Outlaws schedule that sees the drivers turn sub 10-second laps, on the ultra high-banked and blazing fast 3/8-mile.
The event at Knoxville Raceway on May 3 will serve as the season opening event at the famed half-mile, with a very strong field of cars expected. Along with the 19 full-time World of Outlaws competitors that will be in action, the full contingent of drivers that will be competing weekly in the Knoxville Championship Cup Series will also be in attendance.
The month of May will be a busy one for the World of Outlaws, with 13 events scheduled at 12 different tracks in 11 states over a four week stretch, including the series first East Coast swing of the season, which will encompass three events that will be broadcast on SPEED, including the Rite Aid Outlaws Showdown from The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway on Friday, May 23, which will air LIVE.
Headquartered in Roanoke, Va., Advance Auto Parts is the second-largest retailer of automotive aftermarket parts, accessories, batteries, and maintenance items in the United States, based on store count and sales. The company operates 3,228 stores in 40 states, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands and serves both the do-it-yourself and professional installer markets.

I know what you mean. Last night I had the tough choice of driving 60 miles to Williams Grove for the Spring Classic or 160 miles to Lernerville for the AllStars. I really wanted to go to Lernerville but with both places calling for 50% chance of rain I chose the Grove and saw a decent show. Life's a bitch sometimes!

I can't believe that there are people on here who don't think seeing a race is worth an 8 hour drive each way! What else is there to do that could possibly be better? I'm just curious if nodust made it to Sioux Falls like he claimed he was going to do.

Gotta go with "Strange Wings" idea on this one.
I only drive 8 hours for one race a year and that's Knoxville.

I love road trips so it's not to hard for me to travel. The weather was pretty nasty when I left the Quad Cities the tornado sirens had just gone off about 10 mins before I got in the truck. I flipped on the tv saw there was a break in the storm on the new and headed out before it got really nasty again. My dad fallowed me up the driveway when I got to my parents and told me after I got outta the truck that my break lights were out after I had just spent over two hours on i80. So that was lovely news for me... It's been a wonderful weekend. I did talk to my hubby though and as of right now am planning on coming back out next weekend for the race and a stop in Pella for some good dutch food best thing bout the first weekend of May in these parts. Figure I better make it out here as much as I can early in the summer since I have a baby due in Sept and it's going to get more and more difficult to travel.
always, chels
