I was hoping for something a little bigger. Anyone want to guess what the other live shows will be besides the two Lowe's races? Kings Royal? Summer Nats? National Open?

Maybe this is the reason for the new Musco lighting at the grove.

World of Outlaws Racing Exclusively On SPEED in 2008

Broadcast partnership includes three LIVE broadcasts

CONCORD, N.C. — March 23, 2008 — World Racing Group announced today that SPEED will be the exclusive television partner for World of Outlaws racing in 2008. The partnership will be anchored by five super-sized multi-hour events, three of which will be broadcast live, including the highly successful World of Outlaws World Finals season finale.

There will be 25 hours of Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and World of Outlaws Late Model Series action, featuring a combination of live and tape-delayed broadcasts beginning on May 23 with the super-sized three-hour Rite Aid Outlaw Showdown broadcast LIVE from The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway.

"The World of Outlaws broadcasts in 2007 showed us how exciting dirt track racing can be on television," said Rick Miner, SPEED Senior VP of Production and Network Operations. "The success of the World Finals show from The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway gave us a gameplan for '08, as part of that plan we will be treating the five new super-sized events just as we do any other major motorsports event on SPEED, which should significantly raise the profile of World of Outlaws racing."

A return to SPEED in 2008 as the exclusive television outlet for World of Outlaws racing will bring consistency and awareness to the viewers.

"The broadcast agreement with SPEED continues the solid growth we realized in 2007," said World Racing Group CEO Brian Carter. "The more than 75 million viewers on SPEED give our corporate partners, like Advance Auto Parts, as well as our teams and our promoters, the greatest opportunity to reach our fans on a consistent basis. SPEED is the home for racing on television and we're excited to again have the World of Outlaws on SPEED this season."

Among the 25 hours of coverage will be a three-hour LIVE event with the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series to kick off the 2008 TV schedule on May 23 from The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway; a two-hour Firecracker 100 special from Lernerville Speedway featuring the World of Outlaws Late Model Series; a two-hour Kings Royal special from Tony Stewart's Eldora Speedway; a three-hour LIVE broadcast from the National Open at Williams Grove Speedway; and, the three-hour LIVE season-finale from The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway.

What??? That wasn't big enough? Disappointed because most of us heard the scoop before the announcement?

Anything under NAPCAR begs, borrows and steals to be on TV and your holding out for something better? Wow, tough crowd.....LOL

I'm happy with it. I was getting a little worried. Sure, it could be better or nothing at all. I'll take it! Smile

I never said that I was disappointed. It was just that everyone and their dog knew what it was, maybe not the three live dates, but we all anticipated a TV deal.

I'm glad that there will be some sprint racing on TV.......

but think it kinda sucks ass the shows they decided to put on there. I LOVE that they will air the Oshweken races though. But think they utterly wasted 3 of the 11 slots on Williams Grove. All of the televised shows from there kinda sucked. nothing againts fans of the track or anything - I just didn;t care for em. I think there should have only been 1 televised race from those 2 day shows at WG, Dodge City, Knoxville, and Oshweken. That would open up 4 other places to be able to have a televised race. And it's a travesty that the Gold Cup isn;t among that list. If they took the 4 2 day shows and just televised the finale - then they could air the final night of the Gold Cup - which I think makes a strong argument as the best spring car race of the year - the final night of that show trumps anything else on the entire WoO schedule. and then they could do 3 other races - they should have an Indiana show on TV. don't remember where WoO is racing there - but everytime I saw a race form Indiana it was really good.

The other 2 could be just handpicked between any of the other places the outlaws run. this televised schedule is obviously being catered to certain places. No doubt there should be televised races from WG, Lowe's, Knoxville, Eldora, etc. but I think televising races from some of the lesse known tracks could help those tracks gain recognition and thus solidify a WoO presence at those locations in the future. OKC, you know I am a big Grove fan, but you are pretty accurate with your assessment of WoO broadcasts from there. I saw four Outlaw races at the Grove last year, and did not see a lead change in any of them. That is just the nature of WoO racing on the big half-miles with the fast cars starting up front every night. People can argue about tthe merits of the PA handicapping system, but it does produce quality racing.

Aside from the prestige of Williams Grove, Eldora and Knoxville, I would think the reason a lot of other tracks are not featured is because many places do not have adequate lighting to come across well on television.

Layton and Madsen battled hard for the top spot on the night before the Grove Open but other than that you are right, they get them wound up and then catch each other when they hit lapped traffic.

Tom Deery interview from Dirt Nation last night -

Bottom line, bashing WRG/WoO doesn't help 410 racing or sprint cars in general.

Maybe if they got some decent management in WoO, not insurance sales men like Deery then the 410 world would thrive. Carter seems to be the only one who was ever involved with sprint cars. Besides the at track management. They beg to kill 410 racing. Maybe the bashing of them will get them off of their arses and do something to better the sport, not kill it. Cause you think they don't read these boards? Hmmm, guess again. They lurk everyday.

OK...what SPECIFICALLY do you want them to do to "better the sport"?

Carter, Deery, Geisler and the rest of the World Racing Group team were handed a mess ( financial and image-wise) and they are still in business and seem to be growing.

Again, what do you want from them...speicifically?

Crying shame that they didn't have the Gold Cup on therefrown Arguably it was one of the most action packed race's they had on T.V. if not the most last year. And the production looked good when they showed it on Speed last year as well. They NEED to have some smaller bullring type tracks on T.V. to give fan's different racing styles. And the pay per view dirtvision is ok, but not great.

Trophy Cup......Best race of the year hands down!
