I am looking for either Johnny's email if anyone knows it, or pictures of the tijuana taxi. My father had grown up around the car. Greg Lee built the car Johnny Suggs drove it to a track championship and many wins. I could be wrong on some of this information. My father tells me alot of stories about this car and suggs. Im pretty sure this car was pretty popular in its day. I have never seen a picture of it and dont know of any. It was raced in amarillo and other tracks around there. Im pretty sure my dad said the number was 10, but could be wrong about that to. I would love to find out any information about this car or maybe even get lucky to find out its were abouts. This was around 68,69 or 70 it was a super modified. Nathan

I thought sure this site would have the 10 on it, but no. It's still a great site for the memories!!!! Anyway click below and then click on the good old days 1 and so on. There's some great photos there.

The car is legendary and I'm sure we will come up with a photo of it. Johnny Suggs did sign one of the guestbooks and I think he left his e-mail address. Check my Home Page out and check the old guestbooks out I'm sure Johnny signed in several years ago. Hopefully he still has the same e-mail that will be the trouble.

I took time to look and it's on this guestbook. Hopefully it's still a current e-mail address.

Shane Carson at Tulsa with his 6 cylinder modified in 1974. This was the former Greg Lee owned Tijuana Taxi super modified driven by many Texas drivers, most notably was Johnny Suggs.

Yes, that's Johnny Suggs probably. I think Shady McWhorter may have also drove that car some. That's not the Tijuana Taxi though, that was the Steakley car.

Warren , You are correct that is not the Tijauna Taxi, Suggs and Shady both drove the car it was black in this pic and I have some pics of it when it was yellow with black numbers as well as when it was black like the pic above , Shady drove it more when it was the yellow colored car, he mainly drove it at Dallas but did make it up to Lawton several times in the car. The only pics I have of Johnny Suggs are from back in the 70's in the black #77 Sprint car that he ran at the Devils Bowl. Sure would like to see some pics of the 10 car.

Thanks to everyone for their help with this. No I dont believe the allen lee # 10 is the same car. The pictures of Shane Carson above are pictures of the car. Johnny drove this car before then. In 1974 Shane changed the number to 112 and possibly earlier than that. Im not 100% on the number 10 either. From what Ive heard growing up the paint job was the wildest of its time. Thats when it was called tijuana taxi. I know this car was very popular in new mexico oklahoma and texas. Thanks for all of your efforts again. To hear even someone else say they have heard of this car or know what I am talking about is important to me. The email to Suggs did not work when I tried. I hope to see a picture or even in a wild dream to come up with the car, but if we dont come up with a picture no big deal.

Keep checking in somebody might come up with something. The funny thing about this is, I don't believe I have ever seen a photo of the Tijuana Taxi. I know it is a legendary super. I believe Shane may have totaled that car out at Tulsa. I know he totaled one out it may have been a different one. It may have been the #4 Parsons car. Heck even Shane has check in on the site, so maybe he might have some insite on the car. He has a big collection of photos from the MARCAR days and may have the Tijuana Taxi.
The sad thing is Johnny e-mailed me after he signed the guestbook and offered any photos he had for the site. I believe right after that Johnny lost his wife Martha. I just didn't want to bother him I guess. He may still check in from time to time maybe. Not everyone checks in on this forum though.
Another thing is that for everyone that did contribute a photo there was probably 20 that said they would or had photos etc, and then I never heard from them again. I'm not one to bother anyone about it. It they want to then fine.

New news about the car that may be some help. Billy Powell out of Albuquerque drove this car for half a season. This car also won a car show in Amarillo in 1971. This car won the track championship in Amarillo in 1971 with Johnny driving it. The car was painted by Dick Sheffield. The car was also ran in the 1971 Hutchinson Nationals according to this sight. Johnny ran seventh in the 71 Nationals with the number 10x. The car was green with gold lettering and accent colors. If anyone has pictures of the 71 Hutchinson Nationals, look through them and see if you can see the 10x thats the car I am looking for. Thanks again. Nathan

Does anybody know if Johnny Suggs is or was in the sign business? I have done work for a Suggs Signs from Albuquerque just recently and may be able to come up with some info.

I had one all along. This comes from the 1972 NCRA Yearbook. Credit also goes to Van Cook as the photog.
Kenny Stidd (1) tries to hold off a charging Dennis Glass (2) and Johnny Suggs (10), in 1971 action at the Amarillo Speed Bowl.

1971 Amarillo Champion Kenny Stidd (left) chats with Sprint and super modified star Johnny Suggs. They finished 1 and 2 in 1971.

I think Johnny's son races the 305's with the Sprint Series of Texas.

Although it may be the Tiajauna Taxi, I was under the impression Shane got the Car from his brother Scott once Scott went to another ride. In the pics of Scott with that car in mind, there is a fairly wild 70's paint job.
One might consider pics of Scott Carson in this car to at least show that part of it's evolution. I'll be on the lookout for one here. I have a few program shots, but they aren't real defined.

Scott took over the ride that Harold Leep drove in what 73. Harold retired in mid season the 1st time. He was driving a car owned by Aaron Madden #2 and built by Jelly of Performance Engineering. That is the car Scott drove and Shane took over the modified which was the Tijuana Taxi at one time.
The Tijuana Taxi car I think was even still #10 when Scott drove it?

The car Scott drove that Harold drove is on this page and it is #494. Scott may have drove it in 74 I can't remember, but I think he jumped in it right after Harold retired in 73.

Second place went to Johnny Suggs driving a restored #11 car he built in 1980 and brought out especially for this non-winged event. Suggs who is competing in his 50th year of racing, makes the trip from his home in Clinton Arkansas to SST events on a regular basis.
