I just caught the tail end of an interview with Jim Linder on a local racing radio show this morning. They were talking about Fremont going to a structure similar to what Williams Grove runs, (and Fremont used to use years ago) where the fast cars start rearward in the heats and back a ways in the feature.
I agree with Jim that this will make the racing more exciting (especially the heats) and I hope this move is made. He eluded to the fact that this more exciting racing would put more people in the seats. I can understand that thinking, but also think that Fremonts weekly fanbase is good. (Not what it was years ago, but then again you have alot more entities competing for the entertainment dollar these days) I do think it would bring the existing fan, that attends maybe 5,6,7 or so races a year, back to more races and if there is enough fans that fit that category then yes, it will help the gate quite a bit.
I also wish they would run the Australian pursuit race, in some format, every week.
Question to Williams Grove fans. Since you are currently running this format, is it all its cracked up to be, spectator-wise? I'm sure the FAST drivers might not like it a first, but it sure sounds like a recipe for great racing action.
I liked the sprint bandits format of a qualifying heat then a heat race in lieu of quals., but quals. at a weekly show does help the local racers keep on the qual. game for when a traveking series that uses quals. comes to town.
Just throwing out some fodder for discussion.

Yes, handicapping the fast cars to row six every night is all it is cracked up to be. I think most of the fans in PA would ackowledge that the Outlaws are the best drivers in the country, but their racing is nowhere near as good a show as the weekly races in PA. The people that bash the handicapping format used in PA are fans that don't see it used and are used to seeing the fast guys start in the first two rows every night.
After 40 years of seeing that handicapping system in place at the PA tracks, the fans have come to expect the fast guys to start in row six or beyond every night. That sounds like a positive move for fans at Fremont. I am all for any change that makes the racing more entertaining for fans.

No question handicapping is the way to go. Just need to make sure the track conditions are conducive to passing in the heats and features, to make it fairer for those who need to start in the back every week.

If they go to handicapping, say good-bye to any travellers coming in on an off night/weekend...qualifying is fairest to everyone. Don't know of any weekly shows that put the fast guys in front singlefile. Where are you talking about?
If this post isn't results, stories or something c

Sorry if you misunderstood what I wrote, Bill. I was pretty much comparing a weekly handicap system to a format like the WoO or All-Stars use. I would hate seeing time trials every week, but I think Knoxville's format is the best around if there has to be time trials every week because I know you guys use a deep invert every week.
