Now that you fixed Port Royal, get your water truck fueled up and get out to Ohio and help out with speed weeks.....    I like seeing the race as well as hearing it......

Won't matter for our tracks in Ohio. Last year even with all the rain we had along with the water truck track prep it was dusty. Just the texture of the dirt/clay that we have here. I have been to certain tracks here where it rained 2days before, tracked dumped truckloads of water on it and the dust still flew at the first heat race. Last year at Wayne County it rained all week, they prepped the track all day watering it and it was dusty the first heat race. You can always tell some of the people who are from out of town because they are the first to start saying "man do they have a water truck here." The rest of us who go to the tracks around here consistently get a good laugh out of it.

Yup, Wayne County dumped a ton of water on it today, including right before the heats. plus tilled the track multiple times. Just the dirt that's in Ohio as you said, dust is a problem pretty much everywhere. Sharon is the only track I can think of in Ohio that doesn't have much dust and that's because they imported that red clay, before that they were just as bad as WCS.

Would it be possible to bring in some dirt from another location?   

It's all about the cost to bring in good clay. Sharon finally went out and paid the costs of having good clay brought in. Wayne County last night made me realize, never go there. 

Ohhh, and by the way. They would have had to put Strawser in a rubber suit and gag him if he saw that last night

And I think the clay that is at Wayne County was brought in either this past year or the year prior too. I know Attica brought in new clay this year. Not sure if it has something to do with our soil to begin with or what. The dryness that we have had for over a month does not help matters either. That is why I always bring glasses to the track no matter what. 

Its no too bad once you get use to it. Depending on hwo dusty it is I can usually tie a bandana around my face during the feature and have no issue. WCS & Fremont can be bad because you are somewhat right there close to the track from the grandstands. Places like Attica or Eldora or Sharon are a little better because you can get away from being in the cloud. Can't really speak on Brushcreek or Muskingum. Never have been to either one but I would imagine they will be same conditions. Hoping that they both have good shows, would like to see more 410 races at other facilities from time to time.

It's the "clay"/dirt.  Its junk. BAPS is the same way. You can dump all the water you want and bring in the Duncans and it still wouldn't make a difference.  When it's heavy its rutty. When it's dry you can't see shit.

Slight digression: i like to swim on days when I'm on the road going to races. A few years back I probably drove to 5 different lakes in Ohio, all closed for swimming due to toxic algae. My friend said it was cause farmers refused to stop over fertilizing...wassupwitdat?

Change the clay if you want but don't change raceability. Is that a word? That Wayne County race last night was a good one. 

I don't know about the farming aspect of it, could be a possibility though. I do compete in triathlons so I do a lot of open water swimming and get updates daily about water quality. Typically if we get a lot of heavy rain they will close them down due to high eColi bacteria in there. Also, Ohio did have a lot of issues with water quality that got exposed in the late 90s and it was caused by people not giving a crap & dumping crap into our water. Luckily a lot of work has been done since then but there could be issues with what grew because of said issues. 

I agree with you 100% it was a good race and it seems like a facility with a lot of positives and you just got to love turn 2....but geeez..... although not as bad as Fremont where you literally couldn't see the cars (partially  from  sun and camera I suspect), You have to come to the point of thats just simply to much to ask of fans....  A writier above talked of wearing goggles and a mask... I like the NFL, but I don't want the lineman landing on me.    I haven't been to a baseball game in 20 years that actually had plain old dirt in the infield,  its called "baseball dirt"  maybe its time to call a chemist or something and find a reasonable solution in mixture or treatement... I would think that would be job one if I wanted a track with lots of spectators...  In this world, you have to make it easier to be a race fan not harder...` Otherwise we will fade into the sunset....

When  you see it fly in particles, it's not clay.  It's either dirt or silt...

As for the fertilizer, I am thinking your friend is an organic farming fan. I so if he had his way there would be a lot hungry people in the U.S. and whole lot more world wide. I am not going to say none of it is farm runoff because  during a hard rain some runs from everywhere. At $500 to $600 per ton not many farmers can afford to buy more than is needed. It alway amuses me that these things all get blamed on farming and industry when municiple sewage is treated then released into rivers and streams. I am sure if it is so pure when put into rivers city residents would not mind it being put into the water system instead.

I didn't help do anything but bring it to the attention of people.  Razor Steve and his crew fixed it for one night.

Some of OH tracks did lose the keys to there water truck.....I have only watched highlights from Fremont and I thought I can't watch these races because Fremont wasn't anything fun to watch.  Wayne county sounded better but I didn't watch anything from there.

You didn't missing anything, because you wouldn't have been able to see who was ACTUALLY passing who! Rico said best "it was like a Sahara dust storm." Reminded me of a track i went and frequented back in the day in California......fog would roll in and you couldn't see shit! No dust like that show last night though and heavy GOOD clay too! By the way the racing from what I could see looked good.

Where's my beer or scotch on the rocks? God-damn it! 40

Actually, I don't think she is, I'll have to ask. In her part of Ohio she's surrounded by Amish, & one thing I noticed was that their corn grows at all different heights, so I'm guessing they use last year's seed crop rather than GMO seed. On all the other frams, cornstalks are exactly the same height ... do they use chemical fertilizer or manure?
