I know 65 000. Curious how it paid back through the field. Great that they raised money for the rookie of the race. Very nice touch. Best crowd all year. Was happy to see Brent Mark's get the win if not a Posse member. Love the open just wish they could run it alittle more efficiently. Carrying two kids down bleachers not fun. One is a Brent Mark's fan but could not make victory lane.Lol

I thought it was a fun weekend, but did think it odd that both shows ended around midnight. Especially with how cold it was.

I believe the payout is on the Woo web site under results. I think it pays $12,000 for 2nd place, $7500 for 3rd.

Takes time to get it in with 50 cars qualifying, 6-7 heat races, two dashes, a C, and B main. That’s not even considering the A main nor anytime needed for cleanup if a wreck happens etc. I figure with a 7-7:30 start time that’s about right.

As far as length of show is concerned, please keep in mind that Williams Grove has the latest scheduled starting time of any track that hosts the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series: 6:30 pm drivers meeting and 7:30 qualifying. That's AT LEAST an hour later than any other track on the schedule--but also very understandable for a Friday night track in that area: fans (AND teams AND track staff) need to be able to get there after work, and the Harrisburg area can get a bit congested on Friday late afternoon/evening. I've been told the same starting time is used Saturday for the sake of consistency.

Yeah especially at the grove where they have to stop qualifying several times to push the cars from the outer pit area back to the infield(ridiculous). I'm also of the opinion that there should be more than 1 car on the track for TT's.

100% correct Johnny. I attend weekly and it takes me almost 2 hours to get there. The late start time is crucial for me to be able to make it. If they moved to 7:30, I'd just be able to make it but I'd have to rush. If it's 7:00, I'm staying home because I won't be able to see enough of the show most weeks to make it worth my while. The only reason people are even complaining is because it's Williams Grove. There's a portion of our fanbase here that bashes them for everything they do. Port Royal never starts on time and sometimes they run a little late but those same folks never have a word to say about it. The night before the 50 was case in point. It doesn't bother me personally but you'd think as outraged as some people are about Williams Grove, they'd feel the same about any other track that does it. I thought it was an awesome show this weekend. I had a great time hanging out with friends, meeting some new people and watching some of the best drivers on earth race their asses off for the $65,000 & the prestige of adding their name to the winners list of one of sprint car racing's crown jewel events. There's nothing quite like National Open weekend in Central PA.

It is on the WoO website, the pay back through the field is nothing great for one of the top 5 or so sprint car shows.

There are several reasons this show ran a little longer: more cars (50+ which not many of the typical regular WoO shows get that kind of count), the process of stopping time trials to push the cars from the back pit area to the front, and the inability to cut across the infield at WIlliams Grove to move cars around quicker (not complaining, just stating). If you are comparing the start time for qualifying, the late start time for qualifying is only 15 minutes later than the 2 outlaw shows at another track on the outlaw circuit. So, the point of at least an hour later than all other shows doesn't float. (Sorry Johnny, facts are facts, below is right from the Lernerville website for the Commonwealth Clash) I think starting it later for the reason of the fans getting to the track on a Friday is very accomodating and keeping the same time frame for Saturday night for consistency makes a ton of sense.

One of the mysteries of sprint car racing purses is that fact that the excluding the winner’s Purse, the Summer Nationals pays more for positions 2-24 than the National Open does ($62k Vs. $56k)

6th place pays the same as 24th at the Kings Royal and the Jackson Nationals. Sad

The Trophy Cup pays over $103,000 for the A main(wing 360, 3 day race)
Sat. A main pays $81,500 for the top 24 in points plus $21,450 for 1st through 24th
It would be 5th in Bills list.

I can understand that, especially for Friday race, but what about Saturday? I drove 5 hrs. (skipped Friday cause of weather & didn't want to leave 97 yr. old Mom alone too long)
Considering the cold & high car count, I thought they should have started a lot earlier, & people in the stands nearby agreed

Well, I can't disagree with that but in the end it's their call and we have a choice to go or stay home so it is what it is. My main gripe is the fact that if Williams Grove has a late show, there's a mob of people ready to tear them a new ass over it. It's the typical double standard that we see here. I love all the tracks in our area but if people are going to blast Williams Grove for having a late show, where were they back in September when Port ran just as late at the Night Before the 50? I just feel if one track is held to a certain standard, they all should be and if one track is granted the occasional mulligan, that should also be the case for the other tracks. It didn't bother me this weekend nor did it when Port had that marathon in September. I've been going to races for enough years to know that those are going to happen sometimes and unless it becomes a normal thing, just chalk it up as one of those nights. It still beats being at work lol.

Yep nothing's perfect. Beats the hell out of 4 Crown a few years ago, 2 hr. track prep & Silver Crown going into wee hours (no rain either) I kept falling asleep during SC & left, rather than risk falling asleep at the wheel

That's one race I'll never forget. Somehow, we made it until the very end. It made for a great racing story but I'm in no hurry to do it again.

Where were the complainers in Sept when Port ran late? They were right here and facebook and Twitter complaining about Late Models and other things. And no I am not taking the time to search for the posts. Sometime we only remember what we want to remember.

Saturday was not near as cold and Friday. It was like a heatwave on Saturday night towards Friday. I will never complain about how late a start time is for a sprint race. If they would have started earlier on Saturday. Track would have been junk after warmups instead of being junk about halfway through TT.
Friday's Track - A+
Saturday's Track - F
Saturday they couldn't race on that track because it was way too dry. Sure there were a few movers in the feature. The racing was awful on Saturday. It was like watching slot cars.
Let's go Sprint Car Racing!
Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!
