A.J. HOPKINS WINS AT PARAGON ON INDEPENDENCE DAY

     Paragon, IN - July 4, 2019 -  A. J. Hopkins took the special
Independence Day Event which was held Thursday night at the Paragon
Speedway.  Hopkins moved past leader Jordan Kinser on the 28th lap of
the BRANDEIS Midwest Sprint Car Series  feature and was able to keep
the advantage until all 30 laps were completed.  The victory paid
$3,000 to the Danville, IN, driver.  The 4J Motorsports sprint car is
owned by Jeremy Ottinger.

Before finishing second in the feature, Jordan Kinser had maintained
a lead despite efforts by Josh Hodges and Dakota Jackson to catch
him.  As racing continued and other drivers inched forward, Hodges
dropped back out of the top five.  Hopkins began challenging Jackson
for second and there was contact in turn two.  Jackson’s chance at
a possible victory was over.  Hopkins continued on.  Veteran Dave
Darland claimed third place at the wheel of the Cunningham 17.
Brandeis MSCS Points leader Kyle Cummins was fourth.  Shane Cottle
brought the Epperson 2E around in fifth.

The Certified Rentals Hard Charger of the Race was Bill Rose.  Rose
finished sixth after starting 20th on the feature field.  Thomas
Meseraull was seventh followed by Josh Hodges, Chris Babcock, and
Chase Stockon. Andrew Prather received the Wilwood Tuff Brakes Award
after finishing eleventh.

During the feature there were two caution periods and two red flag
situations.
Garrett Aitken was running in fourth place when he flipped in turn four on
lap 12.  A second red flag was flown later for the Hopkins and Jackson
incident in turn two.

The four heat races held were won by Josh Hodges, Chris Babcock,
Jordan Kinser, and Dakota Jackson in that order.  Babcock and Hodges
were both making their first appearances of the season with the
series.  Thomas Meseraull captured the B-Main over 16 other
competitors.  Brady Short was second.

There were 33 Brandeis MSCS Sprints registered to race.  The 4th of
July weekend tour moved on to Lincoln Park Speedway for the Friday
and Saturday Bill Gardner Sprintacular.
