While this is great it sounds like they are only increasing the winners share. Knoxville‘s total purse would still be much higher then.

You can thank the Sprint Car World Championship @ Mansfield Motor Speedway for the nice increase in the winners share @ Eldora.

And the fans thought it was exciting when Jason & Donny banged wheels at the Nationals a few years ago. Can you imagine a last lap with two drivers going neck and neck with a difference of $150k between first and second??????

As a Knoxville fan, I think this is great. IMO Knoxville doesn't need to increase anything, however if you look through the years the purse has increased, plus the purse for SATURDAY NIGHT ALONE is huge, even to simply start in the A, exceeds many A-main features.
It's good for racing.
Keep It Real

I would say its a good thing but people will still complain. For years people have been complaining about how the winner's share hasn't gone up even though they have added an extra day to the even, and added more money throughout the field, and more money for the non-transfers. Couple years ago people were complaining that it had set attendance records 2 or 3 straight years but the purse stayed the same. Then last year people were bashing it becuase Mansfield came out with a 100K to win race and the Kings Royal which was thought to be a Crown Jewel race was now being out done by another promoter without a sanctioning commitment. Then there was more complaining because the 50/50 winner from last year took home a couple more dollars than the winner of the Kings Royal. Now some people are probably going to complain because they went too far? Or they did this in spite of Mansfield.
The Knoxville Nationals is still one of, if not the best race & series of races in my opinion. With the format during the whole week, the winner is no doubt the best driver and the purse overall is still the best purse throughout the course of the week. If more tracks want to follow suite and increase their purses & hold different formats because of the Nationals then I see no problem in that. And this is coming from an Ohio Native who has attended The Kings Royal each year since I have followed Sprint Car racing, and attend almost every sprint car race there. I have only been to 2 Knoxville Nationals and to me the best is Knoxville and a very very very close second is The Kings Royal. Everyone on here complains about purses not increasing so don't complain about this after they have already made other increases in the past. Sometimes a good thing can just be a good thing no matter what caused it

Just to clarify, I think this is awesome. I was only responding to whether Knoxville needs to do anything to match it.

I like to bag on Eldora for lots of things. Mostly billboards, suites and Coke products. But this is pretty damn impressive.
It's a sprint car purse money arms race!

Tony gets lots of heat from some folks. I have attended events at Eldora every year since 2007. He has poured lots of $ back into both the facility and the purse $ going to the drivers over the years. I go to the Dream late model race every year & the purse structure for it & the World 100 have been bumped up several times over the years. Also, more nights of racing have been added.
Not claiming he is perfect, but by my standards he has done a hell of a job of taking the legacy that Earl built & bringing it up to date & elevating it's stature.
Kudo's to them.

My thought is this. Will that increase the number of race entrants? I doubt there was anybody missing the past couple years or so that had a realistic chance of winning. I'm still in favor of increasing purses throughout the field. Raising KR to 100k and another 75k spread back in woud have done just as much and possibly more. Mind you I'm not complaining. It is an awesome to win amount!

Back when they did The Mopar Million I ask why is it 10,000 to start when the top few guys get what they won ? Someone said it wasn't a charity. Why not only 5,000 to start & pay those low buck guy's a little more ? Wouldn't it have them more that didn't already have the big sponsor ?

Now, restore the banking in the corners to the pre-NAPCAR days and we'll really be set. Cool to see Eldora raising the bar like this. Our sport can always use more of that.

If you were a high level, winged sprint car racer and you only won one big, premeire sprint car race, which would you have rather won: The Knoxville Nationals once, or The King's Royal for more money once?

I've only been to Eldora once (4 Crown a few years ago), & it wasn't crazy fast like you used to hear about, seemed like a pretty standard 1/2 mile
I'm all in favor of more banking & speed too.....

I thot I read somewhere that one of Earls trademarks was always having a bit more prize money the following year. Even if it was a small increase he made sure the purse grew every year. Is this true?
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!
