For real...sort of. Rubins are buying it, subject to finding the funding neccesary. KELO TV locally is reporting it. It's also on the bigbaby speedway website.

It's just a 60 day extension to keep the buldozers from tearing down the speedway next Tuesday - January 1.

We'll see what happens next.

None mentioned. I'm sure that whatever the sale price is to whoever buys it will be a close kept secret by all parties involved.

With last weeks announcement of I-90 (15 miles away from Badlands Speedway) set to re-open for 2019, I'm sure Rubin and Brennan are trying to get all the Sioux Falls area track sponsors back before I-90 Speedway can lock them all into1-3 year contracts.

1.  You say Rubin AND Brennan.....here’s to hoping there’s no Brennan involved.

2.  I would think the tracks would work together not against each other...we all saw how the Brennan I’m the one and only experiment worked out.  If they work together (Husets, I90, Jackson, etc) SD could go from a barren wasteland to a hotbed once again.

3.  Here’s to hoping it all works out, the Rubins see what did and obviously what did not work in the Brennan deal and, as well from Their own past and Make SD Sprint Car Racing Great Again!

Chucky will probably be involved with the concerts and special events as posted on the Badlands Speedway website (if that were to happen).  So I don't see him going away.

1.  Amen

2.  Amen

3.  Amen

I had my first trip to Badlands planned in 2017.  Right before our trip through town, all operations ceased.  I would like to try this trip again.  Hoping that dip$@# is nowhere near a racetrack from now on.

I would assume that having Steve Rubins contact info on the bottom of the news release he is involved and it is a legit attemp/ offer. Here is to hoping it is.

Also, consider what goes here. I have no clue what he sold it for or will pay for it but I cant think of a better way to improve your race track by taking a 2 year holiday from it and returning to a facility with 10 million dollars worth of improvement for pennies on the dollar.

I wish I could sell my business  then by it back for  a similar price after someone updates everything.

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

Great news and hopefully the funding can be secured and Knoxviile,Jackson, and I-90 can all work together.Too much tradition to let go. All the extra venues that have been added will take a good promoter to make pay their way.Looking back most people were happy just to see good racing even if the facilities werent new.  Many true fans would enjoy a grass hillside to a high dollar suite !

Frenchy, I couldn’t have said it any better.  As well, thise resurrecting I90 need all the support as well. Both groups are attempting to resurrect sprint car and dirt track racing in that area and deserve support.  The last few years show what life is like without. Fortunately some are preserving. I only wish I lived closer to the area as I did 23 years ago so I could support it on a regular basis.

A question from an area outsider. I am from Central Pa.

I hope Husets is being bought and reopened and it's great that I90 is reopening.

But my question is how can two tracks 15 miles apart both run sprint cars on Sunday nights?

From what I have been reading for the last two years no track can run sprint cars on Saturday night against Knoxville and I assume Friday night is out because of Jackson.

It is going to be rough bringing sprint car racing back to South Dakota when the tracks can only run Sundays.

Quite a dilemma?   What to do now?

Hartford has always been a Saturday night track. Husets has always been the Sunday night track. In recent years Husets has run 410's, 360's, late model street stocks and hobby stocks, with some B-mod races thrown in . Hartford, having a much smaller fan base has raced 360's, late model street stocks, hobbies, B-Mods and 4-cylenders.

Starting several years back, the 360 numbers steadily went down at Hartford and they made the switch to Racesaver sprints but they didn't get very many to show up. I believe that was for only 1 season and there was no time to grow the class before the meteor hit and took Hartford off the calender. Rod Pattison is reopening Hartford and I expect some pretty cool stuff to be happening out there.

How am I an idiot? Is this situation not a shit show? Am i an idiot because I'm from the East coast and didn't know who Rubin was? Am I an idiot to think that Chuck Brennan is a chump, and is the sole reason for this situation being a shit show?  Please enlighten me.  Better yet,  let's meet in person and you can elaborate.

The one real short class of cars in the midwest is the 410 class. So it isn't just a matter of running sprints against Knoxville. At one time Husets and Knoxille did share a handful and sometimes more of the 410 class cars on Sat-Sun nights.

If you were one of the people who were calling me a "Chuck sucker" for trying to give him the benefit of the doubt when he first bought it, then the point still stands. If you bad mouthed him from the moment he bought the place, the point still stands. I do get the sentiment, I was never wild about the guy and I wish he would have worked with Jackson and knoxville. Obviously it went the way many people thought it would, they were correct that Chuck is an asshole and is bad for the sport.

When he first bought the place Husets was kind of slowly declining. He put a ton of money into the facility, he increased purses, the rock and roll gold cup was a pretty good event. At the time was I supposed to be mad about that? There were a lot of people on here pissed off because he was running saturdays because of Knoxville. Knoxville is 5 hours away, that really shouldn't matter and I was happy because I work early Monday mornings. I was not happy that he tried to take on Knoxville instead of working with them. He could have run Saturdays and still tried to collaborate with then somehow.

So everyone was right, he sucked and he ruined racing in Sioux Falls. I do think he got screwed by the state when they outlawed payday loans. We still allow citibank, Wells Fargo and especially Denny Sanford do basically the same thing with credit cards. So now he's being vindictive and petty because of that and it is unacceptable. Have a great new years.

Wow, wasn't it just a few years ago so many people here were complaining about the Rubin's and wishing they would sell Husets? Complaining about the "beer grader" etc.?

And now he's a hero. Hummm.
