Just watching the results from Montana tonight. Schatz knocks off QT then finishes 1st from the pole and 4th in the dash. Hopefully this wont turn into a invert or lineup or follow the leader  thread but...

Seems like the difference between Schatz and the others is narrowing. Tough to say if one is slower or the others faster but guys like 1S and 1a and the KKR boys seem to be much more of a threat than they have been. Am I seeing it right?

Well, no, not really. Except for the fact that the IA and the IS are getting stronger. Schatz set QT and won his heat from the pole.....no surprise. He drew the inside of the last row of the Dash and moved up one spot to 4th.  Allen, Pittman and Gravel  started 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Dash, and finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Dash (same starting order). Allen started the Feature on the pole, Pittman outside row one, Gravel inside row two and Schatz outside row two. Pittman wins the Feature, Allen 2nd, Schatz 3rd, Gravel fades to 8th. Sweet moves from 9th to 4th in the Feature, Kinser from 8th to 5th and Schuchart moves from 10th to 6th. Stewart, Madsen and Marks slipped backwards to make room for those guys. So to sum it up.....a shit track with very little passing. No indication at all as to anyone really being a threat to win more than they were......did you forget that Schatz just swept two in a row?

That was kind of my point. Schatz started 4th and finished 3rd. Thats only gaining 1 spot without even really  passing someone since they start side by side. He had 35 laps and stayed where he started. Imo that is cause the guys he used to drive past dont allow him to do that anymore.

Congrats the 1a. Restarts are getting better. One day soneday.

Tracks like last nite are like watching napcar or Slideways go Karts!!! with the cars so close no matter where,  if they follow the leader and do not make 2 grooves, racing SUCKS!!!!

I figured some of you (not saying you Blazer) would have loooooved last night's track. It was wet in the beginning, they never used push trucks to pack down the outside, and let the cushion naturally move up over rthe course of the night. I thought I've read that those precise circumstances make for the "perfect track" approximately 738 times on this board.

I thought the racing was average and was hoping Allen could pull off the first W. Alas, it wasn't meant to be.

So you think beacause of one night on a track with very little passing at all, that Schatz is slowing down and the other guys are speeding up. Are you nuts? How funny!  You need to pay closer attention to what goes on. Brad Sweet got Hard Charger for gaining five positions in the A Feature. Does that tell you anything?

Yeh you know........If it's too wet it will only move up so far without additional packing during the night. That's a race night call.....We had that on the first night of the racing season at Jackson Motorplex. Had a wet week to begin with, and even with between race packing.....what we used to refer to as ironing in the cushion, they could only get the track just so wide. It's gotta be a tough call on the moisture situation if there isn't a lot of sprint car racing at a track.

I was rooting like hell for Jacob to get that one too. He's getting there. He needs these times up front to gain the experience neccessary for the restarts. That seems to be his only weakness imo. That's two damn races he had in hand recently that evaporated because of a damn late yellow.

It tells me that Sweet passed 5 more than Schatz but passing was restricted and they were also slower cars than Schatz had to deal with.

Although I did post my thought after one specific even the idea has neen brewing for a while. Schatz is right on par getting his 17th win about 1 week after the Nationals just like the 2 previous years but his point lead is smaller and seems he isn't as dominant as other years. My conclusion is that others are improving. That  is good for eveyone except maybe Tony Stewart.

Point lead smaller. ??? I typed that from memory and in fact it is smaller than 16 and 15 but 2017 it was a bit narrower than today. I guess in the last 3 years Schatz is basically had the same margin.

Rewatched the video and see guys running hi low and center with a lot of side by side racing. Im not experienced with the train track racing but i personally wouldnt put the Montana race in that group. Watch a single car and he changes lines almost every lap.

The original post was an observation and a question.

Since they boys are in the mountains...

Did i understand correctly Jason Solwold timed with a 410 for QT then finished 2nd in his heat with a 360 ahead of some top end WOO regulars and put the 410 back for the feature?

Busy night for the crew. Way to go guys!

Correct. However, it should be noted that the track was still very heavy and one-laned in heat racing, and it's a short track so HP isn't at such a premium as it is the bigger tracks.

Pittman was all over Solwold but the 18S was able to stay glued to the bottom and the track wasn't good enough for Pittman to use the outside to go around. Still a great feat of driving for Solwold.
