Im not trying to say the man has lost anything but at Pevely he went backwards both nights. Heard him say in an interview [I think it was at Eldora] that his lower than common finishes in the races leading up to Eldora were due to an experimental car. At Jackson he seemed to experiment for 2 nights while Johnson took the lower purses to figure out how to ensure Donny could maximize on the big payout night. Pevely doesnt seem to be a place to experiment. Any theories on his less than normal placings?

Congrats to Logan

like they found his speed secret?

900hp passing in the least desirable (slickest)part of the track and fastest laps in the second half of the feature.

remember when mark Kinser would go out last and quick time  locked down while driving in the slick middle part of half mile tracks?

that was all in the stagger right?

Pure speculation on my part but my guess is that when they bent the car he’d been running a lot at Weedsport, they couldn’t get it completely on point. Or, they had to pull out another car and couldn’t get that right. The only other time I can remember Schatz getting passed as much as he was this weekend was a couple of years back when he messed up his front end at Lernerville and the car was never quite right.

Schatz will win, make it look easy. If a local wins will be a hooked up McCarl, Austin or Terry.

One of the people in our group ask one of the WOO regulars, who is a personal friend of his, about Donny and that driver said that Schatz was likely experimenting with something at Pevely.

A) He was afraid of inspections & stopped using his 430 engine?

B)He was afraid of inspections & stopped using traction control?

C) A & B are actually BS & other guys just ran better?

Donny has never ran well at I55. He has said he doesn't run well there. Most times not all but most you have to run on the outside wall to win and the cushion is a foot from the wall and sticks to the wall 3 or 4 foot high. You have to basically hit the wall with your right rear every lap. I watch from the infield and when there is  a red they stop near the infield wall and you are about 8-10 feet from them. They will talk to you about the race on the red. I've heard Donny say on 2 separate occasions he's not going to get on that wall he doesn' want to crash. He just doesn' run well there it not his kind of place.

Donny hasn't won since the Kings Royal.....and he wasn't the fastest car at the end of that race either......just saying!

Too funny. He is 200 points in the lead. 10 more wins than anyone else. And then if he doesn’t win, has a couple of off nights, or perhaps is experimenting with something...there’s speculation he’s lost something. LOL

I was in the stand at West Memphis back in 2007 (I think) for a WoO race that Tim Kaeding won.    He almost lapped Schatz that night.   I think he totally lost it back then and all these wins since 2007 were just blind luck....

Im only reffering to I-55. Not the races between there and the kings royal. I agree also he has been off lately. I do believe he was experimenting the first two nights of the Jackson nationals and at Knoxville in June and so forth. He just doesn't run great at I-55 period.

They said on Dirtvision Donny had something like 10 podium finished out the last 13 races at I55?

Yes with one win. For Donny that's not running good. How many tracks has he been to 13 times and only won once? 4 or 5 maybe. I'm thinking he only has to wins there I'd have to look it up. The words that came out of his mouth were " I don't run well here".

Schatz has won the Nationals 10 times.  I only remember him "making it look easy" 2 or 3 of those.  All the other years someone was breathing down his neck.

I still think the most impressive stat about Schatz is his 13 year streak (going back to ‘05) of finishing 1st or 2nd in the Nationals including of course the 10 wins.

Yes, that is most impressive.  It's strange when you put it that way.  This will be my 17th Nationals in a row, and to think he has done that in 13 of the 16 years I have been in attendance is just incredible.

My "Month of Donnie has begun" misspelled thread after the Kings Royal went all bad. I'm OK with that.

Is it just me or have there been a lot of different winners this year?

I'd still bet on the 15 car this Saturday night.
