After announcing his departure from the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car series on June 22nd, Clyde Knipp has been itching to get back into the seat of a sprint car. With T-Rex Tape leaving his team unfunded for the remainder of 2018, Clyde and his crew chief, Andrew Korte made the difficult decision to sell many of the assets the two have built up over the past few seasons.

Clyde is excited to announce that he will be back in competition on July 14th in the Sprint Car Capital of the World, Knoxville Raceway driving the #10 Vander Ecken Motorsports sprinter owned by Mike Vander Ecken. "I am extremely excited to get back behind the wheel" said Knipp. "My goal is to race professionally and the Outlaw deal didn't work out due to lack of funding. I am grateful for the opportunity that Mike (Vander Ecken) is giving me running his car at Knoxville."

In addition to the July 14th race, Clyde will be behind the wheel of the #10 Vander Ecken Motorsports car on July 21st, 28th and the Knoxville Nationals. The Vander Ecken Motorsports team will also field an entry for Knipp when the World of Outlaws visit Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, KS on October 19th. "I am excited to run close to home and see many of our local fans and supporters." Knipp added. "I am still looking for other opportunities to supplement my schedule with Mike and the #10 team and would take seat time in any open wheel car."

Vander Ecken Motorsports would like to thank its marketing partners The Other Side Bar, Northcote Locker and Clark Construction.

Clyde Knipp would like to thank all of his fans, family and friends for their continued support through the transition off of the World of Outlaws tour. Clyde thanks K1 RaceGear Arai Fischer Body Shop, Jbc Transport Group LLC, Fischer Body Shop Inc. Bob McAdam, Betsy Enterprises and Roush Construction for their continued support as he chases his dream of being a professional sprint car driver.

Going to be a tough bid to try and get future sponsorship deals if any look back and see how prior sponsors were treated with the wording chosen in this release. Not a good look.

Should've clarified, can see where it is ambiguous- not insinuating anything happened between the two, just the wording in the release.

I don't follow either. Where's the perceived slight you're seeing?

I guess it just reads to me like they're dumping on T-Rex. Flat out says that T-Rex "left the team unfunded". Doesn't seem like a good way to treat a sponsor, and even worse when they were obviously making or breaking this team.

Who knows, maybe this was a raw deal for the team, but as someone who has a say in my company's marketing spend, I'd avoid a team if I came across something like this - it's effectively negative branding for them now.

I was confused on your comment as well. I took their statement to mean that T-Rex had stopped sponsoring them, and this was the softest way they could figure out how to word it and still not sound totally negative. It does suggest that they and T-Rex might not be the best of buddies now.

I'll never say anything bad about Clyde to taking a chance and hitting the road. It's cool to see someone chase their dreams.  What has he done to deserve a ride in someone else's car though? There isn't a driver out there more deserving?

I do remember a couple weeks ago when he dropped off the tour he did a short video of himself explaining what was going on and what they were going to try to do moving forward. If I remember right what he said about T Rex in the video wasn’t negative at all. Just sounded like T Rex had other obligations and chose to going to different direction not with Clyde.

I'm happy for him that he's getting this opportunity. Running a local deal in my opinion is where he should have began his sprint car career to start with. There are still plenty of years for him to persue a career with the WoO if he develpos into a capable driver. I think he would have been much further ahead than he is now had he gone this way in the beginning. He would have gained the experience and done so without getting thumped so badly night after night. Confidence plays a major role in any athletic venture, and now maybe he can gain some. As for the ride, there probably aren't drivers knocking the door down for it, but no reason why it can't be a good place to regroup and continue his dream. Good Luck Clyde!

Good to see a driver in that car and it racing at Knoxville. I did see the release and the video and did view it as if he put a sponsor in a negative light.

Good luck to Clyde and the Vander Ecken Team.
