100 degrees, burned off dirt tracks, time trial position critical and: Lincoln- 1.Kahne,2,Miller,3.Abreu,4.Larson. Grandview-1.Stewert,2.Miller,3.Larson,4.Hodnett. You have a better chance of being hit by lightning while being run over by a bus, than those draws 2 nights in a row.

Hate hate hate that people force themselves into conspiracy thinking because of a lack of understanding of random variation. What it looks like and what people expect it to look like are rarely the same thing.

I am not sure what to think of that. One thing I like about Port Royal is that it usually stays more consistant thur time trials than most tracks so a bad draw doesn't end your night. It not unsual for some good times later in the order. With that said I have been debating goiing tonight because the track prep lately really benefits a driver that I don't think much of. Right now it looks like we might get significant rain real soon then clear up. If that happens and they still race at a desent time I think I will go.

I saw Donny reach into a toolbox and draw out a random wrench last Friday night for dash position.   He drew out the 2.  Saturday night, he drew out the 1.  I heard "SETUP!" and "RIGGED" being yelled from various parts of the stands.  So stupid.  I was pissed, but it wasn't a setup.

Odds of drawing front row Friday night----1 in 4.  Odds of drawing front row Saturday night------1 in 4.  Not exactly Powerball odds we're talking about here.

Watching "first 12" come up 14 spins in a row while placing outside bets years ago on the riverboat in Quad Cities cured me of my infatuation with roulette.

People these days do not believe what is actually in front of them & fact because it does not support their beliefs. Plenty of people just do not like Donny & if he anything good happens to him they will try to convince themselves that he or the Outlaws are cheating. They cannot find it in themselves to say he is that good or legitimately drew the front row.

Same thing with Nascar drivers randomly drawing the first 4 qualifying spots in order. Not possible even though most tracks/organizations have an official spin numbered balls in a spinner and what comes out is your number. A lot of conspiracy theories exist today because the truth doesn't support their unfounded beliefs

The conspiracy continues - Kahne draws third lowest spot tonight! Better call for an investigation, Fordfairlane.

Longtimefan...agree with you 100%. Went to port royal last night for that very reason. Rain showers in the afternoon made the track good and not slow and run around the bottom by feature time like their track prep has had it lately. Speeds were maybe a little too fast at feature last night but that was better than 20 second laps. If they could just find that happy medium it would be great racing. Easier said than done...i know.

I see there are a few others seeing the light about the Port.  The thing that gets me is the two that prepare the track know better than everybody.  The straw that broke the camel's back for me was one night last year the sprints were running in the low 16 second braket in warmups and Swartz said the track was too fast for a good race.  LOL!!   I havn't been back since.

Let's go Sprint Car Racing!

Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

Weather will always play a factor in track prep. Dirt will always be dirt so like you said, easier said than done. I very much prefer last night over the usual.

Amazing night of racing, and all of it without BStrawser, Imagine that, lmao. They knew exactly what they were doing with the track and nailed it. They had the track sealed and ready for the rain storm that came, and never lost the track. The 410 feature had tons of great racing and the URC feature was outstanding, towards the front. Per ususal, the folks who never run at Port (see Swindell/Bayston) raved about it, in person and on social media. Well done Port, see you Saturday, a Strawser free Saturday. AMEN

They raved about it as much as they do any other good track. See, that's the problem with Port Royal and their cult. They act like EVERYTHING at Port Royal is heads and shoulders above all the other tracks everywhere else. How many other tracks have a good racing surface? There's a lot of them that do. How many other tracks have a nice scoreboard? Williams Grove and Lincoln come to mind and they had theirs 10 years ago. Musco lights? Once again, a lot of other tracks do and they had it long before Port did. Some of the Port homers can't just take a good night of racing and a nice compliment from a team for what it is and instead, they gotta take it and try to beat all the other tracks and fans of other tracks over the head with it. Drivers usually do say nice things about tracks they race at. Especially if they're visiting from out of town. If you go to another fans campsite who you just met for breakfast and it's just ok, nothing special, are you gonna tell them it was just ok and it was nothing special? Hell no. You're going to be appreciative and thank them for the hospitality and tell them it was good. Same thing applies here.

and what else people dont get is that all these "big money guys" started at the bottom.  being from the NW i watched Kasey work his way into nascar, same with Kyle Larson, living in chico, small teams , HUGE talent that figured it out!  Kasey and Kyle both stuffing the right rear up against the wall, consistently!  agreed, not a coincidence, not luck, but raw talent!

Ascot was the greatest of all time..

West Capital wasn't half bad either..

Life is good...

What is "started at the bottom"? I first saw Kasey Kahne at Husets when he was age 16. Showed up out of nowhere with a huge family owned hauler and a family owned sprint car (or so we were informed). That's not the bottom for the drivers I know about that "started at the bottom" and found success. As for Kyle Larson, he started racing Outlaw Carts in CA at age seven. That is a pretty darn good "bottom" to start from, also. Don't get me wrong, those two have an abundance of talent for sure. But being discovered was easier for them the way they were able to start, than for many others out there in the world of racing without the same means to get started. Also, career wise, they still each have a lot to prove before they can be considered among the very best. I'd say Larson still has a real shot with his career, but Kasey's career achievements falls quite short, imo.

Don't tell Stimely and Swartz.....they will tell you that you can't have a good race when it is fast.  Just ask them......

They raved about Port because it finally had water on the track where you could move around and make somes strong moves.  Port has a great facility....maybe the preparers will catch up some day.....but I am not counting on it.

They got lucky it rained....if it didn't the track would have been used up before the heats were over.....like every other Saturday night.....boring racing 20 second laps in the feature.  Excuse me while I go watch the grass grow......that is lot more exciting than Port when it is hard, black, and dry!

I have also left a fair share of money at the Quad Cities casinos.  Smile
