CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINT CARS AT VENTURA SATURDAY!

(Torrance, CA, July 3, 2018) The most competitive season in recent memory for the USAC/California Lightning Sprint Car Series will continue this Saturday night, July 7th,  at the Ventura Raceway.  In the first six races of the 2018 campaign, five different drivers have visited victory circle.

Heading into Saturday’s race at the picturesque track that is located adjacent to the Pacific Ocean, Spring Valley’s Jarrett Kramer sits on top of the championship standings.  The 36-year-old took the point lead at the fourth race of the year at the Barona Speedway on May 19th.  Since that time, the 2010 series champion has built up a 72-point advantage over two-time champion Brent Sexton of Lakeside.   Teenager’s Dominic Del Monte of Gardena and Aiden Lange of Lakewood sit third and fourth in the standings.  Camarillo’s Cody Nigh is fifth.

Lange has two victories and is the only driver with multiple wins in 2018.  Five-time series champ Bobby Michnowicz of Lomita, Ventura’s Bruce Douglass, Nigh and Kramer have won the other four races.  Douglass, a two-time Perris Auto Speedway Senior Sprint Car champion who will turn 67 in August, won the series last race at the Bakersfield Speedway on June 16th.

In the first two CLS races at Ventura in 2018, Michnowicz and Lange picked up the wins.

In addition to the CLS, the VRA Sprint Cars, Dwarf Cars and Focus Midgets will also be part of Saturday’s program.  Spectator gates will open at 3:00 P.M. with racing at 5:30. The Ventura Raceway is located on the Ventura County Fairgrounds at 10 West Harbor Boulevard in Ventura (93001).  The track website is http://venturaraceway.com/ and the track phone number is (805) 648-RACE.

After Saturday’s race in Ventura, the CLS will take one week off before returning to action for round #2 of the “CLS vs BCRA Civil War Series” at the Santa Maria Raceway on July 21st.
