I wish them the best of luck. He's done what most people only dream about.

Yeah man, I second that. Good luck. Out of curiosity, what would be the local tracks around Missouri that he might run. I'm not too familiar with that area.

St Francois is the only Missouri 410 track I'm aware of.

I'd have to look at a map to see what part of the state they are from but I55 in pevely runs some shows. Us 36 runs some, Lucas oil speedway which may be the nicest facility in the country runs some. I'm sure there are others. MOWA primarily in the Illinois region runs

Only 410's are Farmington and MOWA races. Some specials pop up. Actually Knoxville has had drivers from the area compete on a regular basis over the years in 410 and 360.

Clyde had trouble making any show at any level, hope that changes for him.

He had his share of struggles and his car spent quite a few nights sitting on the trailer during the A-main but if he hadn't gone out on the road, a lot of us wouldn't know who Clyde Knipp is. That's what being on the road with the best in the business can do. He lived a dream that virtually every young sprint car driver wants to live yet so few actually get to. I wish him all the best and hopefully the things he learned on the road (of which I'm sure there are many) will lead to success on a local level.

I respect the young man, his crew, and the fianancial backers for attempting the endeavour. Although he did not attain the level of success he desired, he did not fail. The experiences he encountered, the knowledge that he gained while competing with the best will enable him to be a better driver as well as a better person in the future. I wish him well in the future.

I55 is a cool place to stand up against the fence in three and four..............
Ascot was the greatest of all time..
West Capital wasn't half bad either..
Life is good...

The shit talking is unnecessary (but completely expected for this board). He improved quite a bit out there and for someone his age and budget I don't think he underachieved. I would imagine the insane amount of rain outs hurt him. He went out and lived his dream, I give him a lot of credit for that.
Also Lakeside speedway isn't far from the Missouri border.

I will guess he showed up at a couple hundred more WoO races than you did over the last few years, strapped on a 410 sprint car and risked his life for your entertainment. But keep talking shit, its expected around here.
Thanx,
Bruce

You have to respect Clyde for what he did. Took a chance and lived out a dream most sprint car drivers in the country never accomplish. Even if he never goes back on tour, he can lay his head on the pillow at night and feel satisfied. Most of us on this board have a lifetime of regrets on things we wanted to do but never did. The best of luck Clyde!

Never met the young man, always respected what he was trying to do. Every time he was introduced it put a smile on my face as lont time racer Randy Martin was also from California, MO and he was one of my better friends in the business. It also reminds me of my last conversation ever with Jesse Hockett at Randys Shop....

Kid started at 16 with WoO with very little winged sprint car experience. I've watched recent videos that show him much more competitive and much closer to "race speed". And keep in mind he doesn't have the money to crash cars which means going out and driving like Kyle Larson or Sheldon Haudenschild is not an option. And the only way to really learn how fast you can go is to go over the line at tmes.
I hope he races local somewhere. Heck even Knoxville. I remember a lot of young guys being backmarkers for years. I think if he keeps it up he could be a strong local driver in a few years.
The sport needs 100 more kids and families like this. Today's Clyde Knipp's are tomorrow's Mark Dobmeier's or Jason Sides.

Regardless of how he ran I appreciated him being there every time I watched an outlaw race. Best of luck and hope to see him back on tour in the future.

WRG doesnt care about small teams, nor locals for that matter, if your not a Kane, Larson or Stewart car , or a driver with large family racing roots your nobody to them, and they treat you that way. Mark my words WRG will be hurting someday, with the price of fuel, keep trying to drag your teams across the U.S. with no $how , keep treating them as they do, and you will see.

Clyde got his start and will very linke;ly end up running more at Double X Speedway. That;s kind of his home track. Mostly wingless I believe though. I think you'll see him in a 360 here and there and a few select 410 shows
