From Dirt Vision PPV I-55, Sammy Swindell ended up with a broken fromt axle in Turn 4... Sammy got together with Kerry Madsen or something... (DirtVision missed the actual accident)... Anyways, Sammy was out of the car really fast, waiting for Kerry Madsen to come around under caution, and when Kerry did, Sammy walked towards the moving car, pointing and yelling... twice...

This all happened in the A-main... Sammy's night was done because of the broken front end...

Below is Brad Doty's response by twitter to the World of Outlaws twitter...

Is there still a penalty for drivers getting out of the car & walking out on track under caution???

Sammy Swindell is less than pleased with Kerry Madsen. Swindell’s night is done.

I dont care who it is,getting out of your car to confront another driver needs to be done in the pit area or not at all.Emotions are hard to control but the actual racetrack is not the place under caution.Usually if there is a red the officials try to keep order.

I'd suggest that the proper thing for the officials to do would be to throw a red immediately and have the offending driver escorted off the property. Any punishment could be worked out overnight and announced the next day after tempers cool down a bit.

Yea, Sammy should have known better, especially after the death in upstate NY.

I'm a Sammy fan on the track, IN THE CAR, but I can see why some people think he's a jerk....

As much as I dislike Sammy, I dislike it more when our sport does not take safety seriously.   For any dirver to get out of the car and walk towards traffice is just wrong.   The WoO needs to make a stand and set a precedent with a suspension.   What a valid suspension would be for a part time driver is another topic.   Or suspending a former champion is also another topic.   However, they should pick something that will get Sammy and everyone elses attention.

......and when one of their contract drivers do the same thing, they should see the same suspension.

Since there are so many non WoO regulars that run WoO events forget trying to suspend drivers for violating rules.

Make it a monetary fine, I don't care what amount it is just make sure that its enough to get peoples attention, whether that's $1000 or $10,000 or somewhere between whatever.      The fine has to be paid before they can race at another WoO sanctioned event.     Cash, credit card or good personal check that has to clear the bank before they race again.

Make it known what the penalty is before hand and have the drivers sign off on it, with their initials next to the paragraph stating the penalty and enforcement.

How about this?

Have every driver sign a waiver at the beginning of the night.  Sign a section that says "you are responsible for yourself if you exit your car and enter the racing surface"

End of story.  If drivers don't give a shit about their own well being, why the hell should I?  We need to stop taking responsibility for everyone else's well being.  He's a grown ass man, he can do what is best for him.

Because its not just about their safety.  Its also about keeping the show moving.

Honestly I'd be in favor of monetary fines for other things too such as the jackwads that ride around the track for 3-4 laps prior to a restart protesting the position the officials are trying to line him up in.     Just get in line or fine them $500/lap.

I'd say SLAMMIN SAMMY should be the last one pointing fingers at anyone. Over his career I'm sure the balance is in his favour.

I agree 100%. But I would still have the offending party removed from the property. Losing the ability  to rant and rave to people from your pit after the race would be a good detterent. What fun is being a crybaby if you can't piss and moan to people?

I remember a lot of years back Ted Johnson fined Sammy for something.

We were in the infield.  Sammy found one of Madsen's crew guys sitting on a 4 wheeler and proceeded give him the business for a good 5 mins.  He was ranting and raving, pointing back and forth at the guy then at Madsen on the track.  It was actually pretty comical.  Everyone in that end of the infield was getting a good chuckle out of it.  I felt sorry for the poor crew guy.  He didn't appear to be responding at all.  He was just sitting there calmly taking it all in.  Sammy eventually wore down and stomped off but not before looking back and firing off a final rant.  I don't now if he took it up with Madsen after the race or not.  Typical Sammy.

Sammy was turned backward right in the middle of the track. The front end was broke and laying on the ground. He got out to look at the damage. Madsen had to drive pretty close to go by Sammy. Sammy was never more than 6-8 feet from his car so I don't see how they could claim he pursued him. He did take a couple steps toward him but like I said never got more than 6- feet from his car

Better he say it to a crew chief guy, Madsen is as tough as anyone in a sprint car, ask anyone in Australia.  Dad owned a junkyard and Kerry is the typical junk yard dog, afraid of nothin' and nobody.  On top of that he is a helluva nice guy but Sammy will be my fav 'till they through dirt on me.....

I really hope he said it to the crew chief, Guy. Sammy might look down on him, but that crew chief, Guy, will put Sammy in his place just like he would any other driver.

That being said I'm guessing Sammy pussied out and picked the tire guy or the car chief guy to bitch at because if he picked the crew chief, Guy, to bitch out he knows he'd be barking up the wrong tree.
