I know there are many special paint schemes for the Chili Bowl, but Danny Smith's is awful nice.  Love the retro look.  Wish he had chrome or brushed aluminum wheels instead of the gold/black combo.

I like a variety but I have to admit I like the Blackbeard cars. I think they are pretty sweet looking rides and its just his style. I think if you go to them you know what to expect. Its going to be hard lines with black and some high contrast colors. To each their own. Anyway this car for Danny was a nice change of pace for those who like something different.

On that note what is your preferred style?? Only curious. No wrong answers as its your opinion.

Maybe I was a bit melodramatic, as I too like a some of his designs, but when you do that many cars you’d think that you’d see a wider variety. I guess when I look at some designs that I really like by him (Sweet‘s Napa car, or Darrah’s Ollie’s car) I think, “Damn, that’s slick. How’s that one gonna get topped“ but then the next ones look pretty much like rest.

Cars that I like? Depends. They are usually white with some sort of traditional stripes. I always really liked the white Middleswarth car that was driven by Keith Kauffman. Al Hamilton’s red 77 always stood out. Steve and Stevie Smith’s black 19’s from the 80’s were nice. Terry McCarl’s 7x that he had at Knoxville a couple of years ago was awesome. And again, I know it’s plain, but I really like Brian Brown’s car from the past two years.

I’d have to agree with you Johnny. A lot of “today’s” cars look pretty much alike from one to the other and are, in my mind, way too busy. Some so busy it’s difficult to figure out who the sponsor is.  Some aren’t too bad, Gravels comes to mind, but that may be because he has a deer on it and deer hunting is a passion of mine and orange is one of my favorite colors. That being said, I’d rather look at a simple car, your example of the Hamilton 77 is a good one. Some of my favorites would be Wolfe’s white 8d from 89 and his orange 8 Payless Ride, Kinser Valvoline and of course the of Sammy’s.  Locally in southeast South Dakota in the late 80’s was the 18 Rawhide car of Fran Bruns, Bonzai‘s older bro. In this case, Danny Smiths midget rocks.
