Of course you've heard of the Knoxville Raceway......owned by the Marion County Fair........well now it's time for the fans in the area to pay attention to who is on the board that makes the decisions regarding the race track. Make sure there are some race fans in the decision making process or lobbying those that do. As for watching the money, rather that than a stupidly rich sob that doesn't know shit about racing buying the track and ruining it.....like we had happen at Husets (Badlands) in Brandon, SD (Sioux Falls area). Freemont is in fertile sprint car country so I'm sure things will go fine.

The interesting part has been that other tracks seem to be going the other way. Jackson, MN's fairboard sold their track to Tod Quiring, which has turned out quite well for all involved as the economic impact to the community has been really good with all the really big shows and the needed infrastructure improvements.
Just out of curiousity, isn't Attica on the fairgrounds as well, but isnt' it owned privately? Seems odd they would do this given what Attica has going on as a private track.

For years the Jackson, Mn track was owned by the Jackson County Fair and promoted by the VFW. That was a great relationship for many years. After the VFW quit promoting the track was leased out. That did work for a quite a few years, at least through the first leasee.......but the last leasee really let things slide. Long story short, it's a blessing for the fans and the Fair that Tod Quiring is now the owner. The new Jackson Motorplex will become one of the premier tracks in the country. Anybody who has been there can see that. I'm really looking forward to 2018 as there are some exciting things being discussed and planned. Now......if only someone can enter the picture at Husets/Badlands and work with Quiring and Knoxville, the Midwest sprint car scene might see a resurgence. One can only hope.

As long as they have open minded individuals on the fair board, which after all the years i'm sure they do, I believe things will be fine. But all it takes is 1 person that can cause major headaches for the other members. Ford 97, your guess was wrong, 35 yrs in business 55 workers. Retired early because after the last democrate got in office my goverment expenses went up 100K in 8 short years of him in office.

beats the fuck out of expecting someone else to pay your way, making you own decisions without asking the govt for permission to enjoy retirement - doesn't it?...the last democrat in office set me back 30% annually for 6 of the years but now that he's back to working full time for Iran my earnings bounced back.

Never have put much stock in the opinions or statements of whiners when it comes to politics!
