Looks like Calistoga is $50 on its final night.

Big 2 day shows... bigger ticket prices.

I would not hesitate with the level of those local drivers vs Outlaws.

I paid about $40 at the Devils Bowl knowing none of the locals would challange the Outlaws.

Eh, from afar I see this more as "everything in CA cost more" sort of thing.  CA is one of the highest "cost of living" states where everyday commodity type items cost much higher than national average.  Housing, utilities, entertainment too.  What's the average home cost in CA?  $400k plus?  Average rent is probably close to $2k / month.  My neck of the woods average housing cost is around $150k (or even less) and rent is sub $1k a month.  So my commodity items as well as entertainment cost less also. 

55 is too high, but I'm not shocked. 

Correct, CA is out of control. If you're in the Silicon Valley/Bay Area, or within 5 miles of the coast your average home is about 850k, and yes everything else is more expensive because of it. That doesn't justify Chico's ticket price though, in my opinion. Chico isn't a highly sought after part of California.

jajajaj......thats what we like to hear, keeps plenty of people out of chico.  and, you are correct about the bay area and silicon boobs, er silicon valley, teardowns are 900K  but then, the low salary is 150K too

Good to hear from people out there as I said I'm from afar.  And it sounds like even with cost of living higher the $55 ticket for this event is not justified and is still too high compared to other events of it's stature/magnitude and that's a shame. Thanks.

National Open at the Grove..$30 G.A. Thur and Fri. $35 for final on Sat. Usually $10more for pits .

Kings Royal only costs like $34 on Saturday  night.  I think the Knight Before is $25 or thereabouts.  

Why anybody pays that kind of money to see an over-hyped, no passing WoO parade anywhere is beyond me.

Please don't think I was knocking Chico in any way. I personally like Chico, and wouldn't have a problem residing there. I have to question the 150k though, I don't believe that would be considered the low end. Maybe in the tech world specifically. I have a couple family members that are working as programmers in San Jose and they started well below that, about 90k. Now 90k might seem like a great salary but not when your mortgage is $5,000/month, gas is rarely under $3.00/gallon and your plumber won't break a turd in half for less then $100/hour. I realize there are many places to live in CA that are not nearly that expensive but either way, the wages are still way behind. I think you'll agree that alot of California is untouchable to the common folk. After Trophy Cup, I'll no longer be a CA resident.

First time in a long time I will not be at Chico. I live down in So Cal. I may drive up to Hanford for the CRA 410s and 360 Wings for 18$. So 55$ vs 18$ both Saturday night shows. And Hanford being  half the distance . Makes it a easy choice.

We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

I remember paying $35 at Devils Bowl.  I'm assuming you might have sat in the reserved?    

Actually, I not only see his point but agree with Larsonfan.   I stopped going to Devils Bowl back in the nineties because ticket prices had gotten so high combined with low car counts and a general lack of competition.   Some people may have gotten a big thrill out of watching Sammy or Steve start on the pole and lead every lap, but I'd rather see a race.   

I do go to the WoO shows at Devils Bowl now, not because I think it's the best racing out there but it's one of the few chances I get to see real sprint cars.   I get the WoO in April, and a handful of ASCS National races and that's pretty much it.  There are also ASCS regional races in the area, but I'm not sitting through seven other classes to watch them.   The Bowl is the only track that doesn't have more than 2 or 3 support classes.    For the WoO it's only one support class.  

Legitimate question here and I am not being facetious at all with this....but what is your hatred with the World of Outlaws? I have seen you numerous times refer to them as the WOO-zers and talk about the ticket prices in California and rightfully so as $55 is pretty steep. However and correct me if I am wrong here as I know this is the case with the All-Stars but don't the tracks determine what the price will be? I thought the sanctioning fee was the same for all tracks across the the US and each track was responsible for the purse and the sanctioning fee.

Here in Ohio most tracks charge between $27-$35 for general admission, and maybe $40-$45 for a pit pass. I seem to be on the opposite side of the spectrum as you as I enjoy it whenever the WoO come to Ohio and actually travel 4-5hrs sometimes to PA and IN to see some shows. Yeah, I have seen some freight train races and one lane no pass shows but for the most part, a vast majority of the races here have been pretty competitive with a pretty exciting finish. Sorry that Cali seems to be a bit different but it may just be a difference in region/territory  rather than a problem with the Outlaws.

I did some quick research.  Like many have said, the cost of housing is a very good overall indicator of cost of living, wages, and just general overall entertainment costs.  Why are people on this forum comparing Chico CA, Knoxville IA, and Rossburg OH ticket prices?  Judging by the cost of housing alone, you're lucky it's not $100 to see a WOO show in Chico.  Holy crap!  

Hopefully folks are smart enough to know that the W of O do NOT set ticket prices, aren't you?  If the Grove is $35 and an extra $10 for the pits then $45 is not too far from $55 in my world.  You do have a lot more cars capable of winning at the Grove though.  If this is too much you better not think of going to an NFL game or most NHL games, the price will put you into a coma....
