I was in the pits at the Ransomville show before the monsoon hit and I talked to Jac( big haud) and this is what he said. He said he would like to see WOO go to a 50/50 wing / non wing format. He said he really likes non wing racing and that he feels that non wing produces better racing to watch most of the time. He also said right now non-wing doesn't pay well enough so he stays with the wings. Don't shoot me I am just repeating what he said to me. I also know the chances of something like this happening is pretty much zero. Anyways-- what say you? Would this be a way to go in the future? What are the pros/ cons? Start it up

Love to see them run whatever configuration the host track normally runs.

Let it be like in the old days, run with or without the wing in the same race. Good luck if you think you can win with a non-wing car.

This could never happen today. WRG puts fan safety as a top priority and there's no way they could guarantee fan safety if this were to take place. Can you imagine the fan violence in the stands if the track would take rubber? The arguments between people as to who was the primary culprit in rubbering the track down would be glorious. We could potentially have people from different countries going at it. Fists flying, people being thrown off balconies, hockey fights, and insults. Oh the humanity!!!

Actually, I think this makes more sense for the All Stars to run a 70/30 wing/non wing split.
This opens up Indiana tracks where non wing is a staple since most All Star teams are Ohio based
The All Star purse is closer to the USAC purse
It would let them leap frog for travel too, non wing Indiana on a Friday and then into Illinois, Iowa, or Wisconsin on a Saturday...travel home on Sunday
Schedule the non wing races when USAC is well out of the area
And Tony was a non wing guy before anything else

No way it would ever happen. The stands are packed at WOO events so I don't understand why it would be a reasonable thought that they would mess with the cars. Just because one (semi-retired) driver would prefer this, doesn't make it the right thing to do.
I am not in favor. If non-winged cars are what you want, go watch non-winged races. JMO

Maybe Jac is tired of buying wings for himself and Sheldon.

I actually think that an All Star series with a 30/79 split with non wings shows is a great idea. Would definitely bring s interesting separation from the other all wing series. And yes I'm a fan of both styles

Other than the state of Indiana and various message boards, wingless racing is much less of a draw than winged racing. The biggest reason Usac runs for 21k purses and the WoO pays 48k is due to the amount of fans they can generate.
I actually think this would be a cool idea for a new series based somewhere in the Midwest, but not for the WoO or All Stars to touch.

Now you've doubled the expense of owning a team by making them buy a non-wing car to go along with their winged one.
Ain't gonna happen, but nice idea and I'd go to either and/or both.
I am lucky enough to work at one of the best tracks
anywhere.

Although I prefer non wing, I recall reading Karl Kinser back in the day saying he refused to race non wing anymore, out of safety concerns (wing absorbs force during a flip)
Since it could life or death, let the teams/ drivers decide.
It ain't gonna happen....

No one has mentioned the safety factor the wings provide in crashes.....especially at the larger high speed joints.
