Joey Saldana has entered the Knoxville Nationals in the Willie Kahne 51 (JMac drove it early in the year on the WoO CA swing). They've worked together before if I remember correctly.

Sounds like with the upcoming loss of sponsorship it's been quite interesting at KKR anyway.

I'm a Joey fan, glad to hear that he's got a good quality ride for Knoxville Nats. But I'm just kinda stunned over this deal. I guess "time heals wounds" over stories of Joey & Willie butting heads when both fulltime at KKR on WoO tour. Hoping to see an A-main showing on Saturday of Nats from this team.

Im not sure if you listened to the Willie Kahne open red a few months back, if you didnt check it out it's a really good episode. They for sure butted heads but at the same time they both knew each other was good, Willie stated that they both knew they werent going anywhere so we better make the best of the situation. The fact is those two guys won a lot of races together, if you are a hired WoO driver you need to win races botom line.
I too want to see a good showing at the nationals for this team. I hope they are making shirts because this one I can totally get behind!

Joey and Willie could be a pleasant surprise at the Nationals..
Getting some laps at the Cappy Classic (if they run it) and Qualifying night could make them a Top 10 contender.
Willie has a brillant mind and him and Joey know how to win together.

They won ALOT of races, I bet they will be fast right out the box and have a great week, I'll be rooting for Joey for sure.

If you haven't done so yet, pick up a copy of Doug Wolfgang's book "Lone Wolf". He does a great job explaining how these deals work. He talks in depth about several owner's and mechanics that he'd race with for awhile then they'd get sick of one another, part ways then down the road they'd get back together and repeat the cycle all over again. The stories he tells about it are very intriguing and it gives us fans a very personal look at what happens behind the scenes and he explains it in such a way that only Doug Wolfgang can. I've never been on the road working for a team myself, but from what I understand, it's a lot like a marriage. The relationship between members of a team who spend every second together driving up and down the road with all the pressure to produce results can get quite strained. Especially when the results aren't there. I'm sure they even get on each other's nerves at times when they're running well too. That's one of the biggest reasons I respect the WoO so much. It's one thing to run 100 races a year locally such as they do here in PA but it's gotta be a whole different animal when you're out there hundreds or thousands of miles from home going to a different track every night and racing against the best of the best. Very few people could handle that kind of pressure.

Willie is in California building shocks, KKR is in Charlotte and on the road. Doubt theres much thought to it at all at KKR, other than good for them.
