INDIANA SPRINT WEEK OVER, BRODY ROA HEADS BACK TO PERRIS SATURDAY!
(Buena Park, CA, July 19, 2017) After making the main event in all five of his starts at “Indiana Sprint Week,” Garden Grove, California’s Brody Roa will continue his pursuit of the 2017 USAC/CRA Sprint Car Championship this Saturday night, July 22nd, at Perris Auto Speedway. Spectator gates at the Riverside County half-mile clay oval will open at 5:00 PM and racing will begin at 7:00.
Heading into Saturday’s race at Perris, Roa is only 18-points out of the lead in the season long championship. Through the first seven series races of the year, he has only finished out of the top five one time. That was a seventh-place finish and it came after having to restart at the back of the pack after an early race tangle four weeks ago at Perris. Besides that, he has recorded three second place finishes, two thirds place finishes and a fifth. At Perris, he has tallied up a second, a third, a fifth and the seventh-place finish.
Indiana Sprint Week was slated to be seven races in nine days for Roa and the B.R. Performance Team. However, Midwestern weather limited the team to five races. Last Wednesday’s race at the Terre Haute Action Track and Thursday’s race at Lincoln Park Speedway were both rained out.
Roa’s final two ISW races were at the Hoosier state’s Bloomington Speedway and Tri-State Speedway. Friday night found him and 40 other USAC National Sprint Car drivers at the ¼ mile at Bloomington. He qualified 23rd fastest. He then won his heat before starting 19th in the main. Heavy traffic made passing a premium from the back and Roa was forced to settle with a 22nd place finish.
The following night at the quarter-mile Tri-State Speedway, Roa qualified 25th out of the 35 cars on hand. He started seventh in his heat and advanced all the way to third making it to the main event for the fifth straight “Indiana Sprint Week” race. Unfortunately, he was forced to start 20th in the 30-lap main which was one spot farther back than he started at Bloomington. However, this time the fast 26-year-old gave the Indiana fans a special memory. He quickly began working his way through the heavy traffic passing 10 cars and moving all the way up to 10th. He was still moving forward when he made some contact with an infield tire marker. That sent him back to 17th, but before it was over, he had charged his way back to 14th. Interesting fact that came out after the race, only five other drivers in the 24-car field turned a faster lap than Roa and the #91R did in the main.
Unofficially, it has been reported that Roa’s 2017 ISW effort had him become the first California based driver in 10-years to qualify for every “Indiana Sprint Week” main event.
The 91R crew will have some of it’s beautiful shirts at Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday. Fans can meet Roa and the team in the pits after the race and get a shirt for $20.00.
