Horrible track. Slick no grip unless you have traction control or doped up tires. Worst show of speedweek so far.

When it is hard, black and dry early in the evening, before the heats were over. They never put enough water on the track at Port.
Let's go Sprint Car Racing!
Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

Did they let everyone else race on a different track?

He hit the wall in turn 2, and was never right after that. Not sure if he broke something or bent something. He pulled in because he thought he had a flat tire, but after his crew looked over the car, they didn't change anything. No flat tire.

When it is hard black and dry before the heats are over and you have to slow down going into te corners it is way too dry for racing! It's not racing when it becomes who slides the least and makes me think of napcar!

Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

I can't disagree with you. The OP said that Dietrich started 5th and went backward. Everybody else was racing on the same track, and some of them made passes- like the ones that passed him.

I wasn't talking about any driver.....I was only talking track conditions. 2 times I have been to Port this year and both times it was hard black and dry before the heats were over. Not what I would call a speed palace.

For the second time, I will post what was said to me from one of the main people who prepare the track at Port Royal.
"The drivers want it (the track) smooth and slick." I am also willing to bet that Danny D. was one of those drivers.
If you want to see speed at the Speed Palace, they can make the track wetter, but you'll just see "High Speed Rail" racing. All the cars running on a narrow track, up on the cushion, running full speed in single file. There will be few attempst at passing. And when that happens, It will just give people from the pits to the shit house something more to bitch about.
BTW, the late model race was a damn good one! LOTS of passing in that one. Jeff Rhine and Cloby Frye racing hard in lapped traffick for the lead with Dylan Yoder coming from DEEP in the pack to grab second. Didn't hear many people complaining about that race.

Ive heard the same thing, Brad. I still think it produces very good racing. I didnt think the 410 feature was bad by any means. Lance just beat everyone that bad. There was great racing throughout the field.
If anyone complained about the late model feature, they need to have their heads examined.

I said my peace.....this is nothing that I have not said to the gentleman that helps prepare the track each and everyweek. Just ask him, he is the one that said if you don't like it don't come, Well guess what I don't go there much anymore, a few times a year. I would be at the Port more often if it were not for the condition of the track. Again, I am not talking about alot more water here I don't think you need to soak the track and make it extremely heavy. I am only saying it shouldn't be hard black and dry half way through the heats. I am talking about getting the water down in the racing surface so it doesn't turn hard with no grip at all. Before the heats were I sent a text to someone that wasn't there and said hard, black, and dry, Lance all the way.
That was a great late model feature. Jeff, Colby and Dylan were the show.

100% truth! The couple people bitching are the usual port bashers or Lance haters. Turns 1-2 was tricky(slick with a thin cushion) but it was hardly a bad track. 3-4 had a much better cushion. Tacky stomp and steer track conditions usually don't produce much passing these days, especially on a half-mile. I just wish they could get the bottom better. Racing in best at Port and most other tracks when the guy who has it set up perfectly on the bottom has can slingshot off the bottom of turn 2 or 4 and have a chance to keep up with the guy rolling the top. Right now it seems the top has to completey go away for that to happen and even then sliding through the middle(as LD was doing in 1-2) is usually fastest. Can't sprint cars run the bottom anymore? I mean I love the rim riders but it makes it so much better when the bottom specialist can get going and challenge them.

I have been to Lincoln, Williamsgrove, Selinsgrove, and Port this year. The racing at the other tracks are just as good if not better than at Port. I don't have a favorite driver anymore! Some drivers I don't have much time for. LD is not one of them. I can respect him. If you think Port had a cushion in 3 & 4 saturday night you are sadly mistaken. That was not a cushion. With how the track was Saturday, Port reminds me of a slip and slide or NAPCAR racing! Although napcar might be more exciting right now at least they are supposed to be racing on pavement! I am talking about the sprints only here.

What I am going to post is not a slam to any other person who has responded to or commented on my origional post.
What part of "That's what the DRIVERS want " is so hard to understand? The DRIVERS are the one's who LIKE the track smooth and slick. The track crew is giving the drivers what they want. If anybody WHO IS SITTING IN THE STANDS has beef with the track conditions, they need to buy a pit pass and express your displeasure to the them. Not the promoter or the track crew. I would be willing to bet most drivers and owners will tell you to "Go pound sand", because you are not the one spending the money on or the one wheeling a sprint car.
