I thought it was awesome to have dollar busch lights at the track. I dont think it worked out for the people that got pulled over after the races let out. there were about 5 cops pulling people over. so now that dollar beer just cost about 10,000 dollars (thats if anyone got an owi ). I understand you should drink responsibly and everything it just sucks for us drinkers. so everyone knows now the next and all the other dollar nights you should think before you drink.

Shouldn't drink and drive and it won't be a problem... Have a designated driver or sleep it off. Doesn't matter if their cheap beers or not cops ALWAYS watch exits at race tracks because they know people drink and drive after it. Probably just stepped it up because they knew a lot of people would be doing that.

No justification for an argument.

Have a designated driver instead of being a moron and driving after drinking. No problem with cops!

I live a half an hour from my home track. My Wife does not like racing. She used to drop me off, and then pick me up afterwards, as I enjoy a beer or three. We compromised and got myself a camping trailer. It cost a good 4 grand, but I am never going to get pulled over for DUI after a race. Small price to pay. My drive home is only a half an hour...NO WAY....

It only takes one time. Be smart. Better yet, don't be dumb.

As Anthony says, Don't. Be. Dumb. No one in the history man NEEDED a beer at a race bad enough to jeopardize his/her life...actually forget you, to jeopardize another innocent person's life. If you enjoy a beer or three at the races have a DD or be smart like maddog. If you can't find a DD. Enjoy the races sans alcoholic beverages. There's better options than getting behind the wheel of a car.
P.S. Jokestars with "...did you see XYZ race...I needed a beer to get through it" or "ever sat through a ModLite race...you need a beer..." coming in 3, 2, 1...

Some folks were confused. Instead of saving a few dollars because beer was cheap they thought they still had to spend the entire beer budget.

I'm with Maddog. I almost always bring my camper to the track. Only time I haven't stayed over at the track or nearby hotel in the last 15 years was the inaugural NSL race at West Burlington. Took my son and another father/son and drove home because we had to be home early the next morning. Not only did one of us stay sober but both of us did--not one drop of alcohol (and that ain't like me at a race) 3 hour drive so needed 2 people awake in the car. Not the ideal situation but some things more important than a beer in the hand. (not a lot of things but some)

Mac....It sucks for you drinkers? you should think before you drink, even when it's not dollar beer night. Don't try to legitimize getting an OWi b/c it was $ beer night.... or say we'll I guess I can't go or have fun b/c I might get pulled over. If that's the case then yes, please don't go b/c I don't want you on the highway.
It's called taking responsibility for your own actions.
