just read that the badlands house band has changed it's name to the Ron Keel Band...
I know it has nothing really to do with racing but with the badlands deal going on and the fact that they are pretty good overall just thought i would throw this out there

What's the obsession with Badlands on here? Even when there isn't 3 other threads going on about the place we have people talking about their "house band"? Is this the only track in South Dakota?
do it in the dirt

I agree, maybe the moderator can start a subcategory just for Badlands/Husets. That way people are not bombarded with the constant supidity that revolves around these constant posts.
Hopefully everything with that joint works out, including the band.

Nice! A Syria Mosque reference. Place is still there and you can see it on the way up 28 to Lernerville. Not sure if they do concerts anymore. I think it's more of an events hall type place now (weddings, dances, conferences, etc.). Cool reference.

The Syria Mosque you're referring to was the "replacement" for the original that was in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh and torn down in 1991. The "new" mosque was never much of a concert venue. The old one was an awesome place to see a show. I think it had around 3000 seats.

Well crap, wrong one eh? I missed that one in Oakland, slightly before my time I guess. Saw plenty of shows at Metropol, Graffiti, Club Laga, etc. Good times. Thanks Johnny!

Played a bunch of shows at Graffiti "back in the day". Metropol was awful for sound--concrete block walls and lots of steel. Only band I ever heard sound good there was L.A Guns, who were SO loud they just overpowered the place. If you missed the Decade, you missed the best place to see live music in Pittsburgh (my opinion).

We're kind of partial to the clubs in downtown Minneapolis up here around the Twin Cities. My daughter's fiance's band played First Avenue last fall and I have always lived on the St. Paul side so we had to go check it out. They have played a bunch of others around that area, Cabooze, Mill City Nights (think they closed), the Pour House are a few that I can think of and we went to some of those as well. Did you ever get to First Avenue while you were living in this area? The history alone is worth checking the place out.

Saw 3-4 shows at First Ave before I even moved to MN. (In fact, the music scene is one of the reasons I moved to the Cities in the first place.) I've probably seen 20-25 shows at First Ave. I've seen really good shows at Triple Rock Social Club as well, and I've been to Cabooze, Lee's Liquor Lounge, etc. SO many awesome venues.

Minneapolis has always been a great place for Music and Songwriters. One of the greatest bands ever, developed in the early 70's was called Lightning started as White Lightning.

You're on the ball Mr. Gibson. There are quite a few of us who have lived up here for decades that can't make that claim. The boys are working on an album and were out of town so they're just now starting to hit some of the local venues again. Last weekend two of the band members were riding in a vehicle that rolled three times after hitting ice on the way back from a gig up north. You could have called that one as I think it resulted in the Hwy 371 version of an open red not too far north of Brainerd.
