I know nothing about the NSL, but NRA will be fine whether Donald or the devil win. Ron Hammons recently bought it from UNOH, and there will be some co-sanctioned shows with Great Lakes Super Sprints in 2017, so I think NRA's slide will be over.

I would hope it would continue if they traveled like its first season, dont know why they
basically went Jackson and Knoxville. I get that Tod owns Jackson but I thought they wanted
a midwest travel series. Did it not make money or did the drivers not want to travel that much.

I think it was small car counts at races that were not on Friday or Saturday.

It was all about car count. In my opinion the points fund should not have existed in the first place. Put that money towards the purse and raise the "to start" payout. Especially in an area that is starved for sprint car teams to begin with. The Short Track Nationals was a good example. $15,000. to win and $2,000.00 to start the A Main. A total of 64 cars when only 7-10 were actual contenders to win.

To me the NSL business model was flawed from the start with Tod putting all the money in to fund the series. Kind of thought this would happen after a couple of years his interest would change and the series would fold as it was never built to last. Imagine like a lot people who have tried to start series in the past they never understand the amount of work and how thankless of a job it can be to try to make everyone happy. I just wish they would put out an official statement if the series is moving forward or dead.

The 3 or 4 Jackson/Knoxville/TodQuiring/NSL apologists said that Chuck would die and NSL would continue to thrive. Theyre usually never wrong. However I did say back during the Jackson nationals I firmly believed the NSL would be done. I guess we will still see, but i would imagine a press release talking about next years NSL would've happened already if there was such a thing. Not looking good.

360 NSL deal ended, sammys deal ended, blaneys deal ended, no weekly 360's next year, cut back on weekly racing for next year. CZ still employed? trouble in paradise?

I don't recall anybody stating that the NSL WOULD thrive. Of course there were a lot of fans hoping that it would. It was apparent from the time Badlands went to Saturday night and split the top 8-10 drivers from participating with one another that the NSL was in trouble. That caused the second year schedule of the NSL to change completely from the first year. And the first year was a work in progress. It doesn't take a genius to realize a series won't survive running just two tracks. Hell that isn't even a series by anybody's definition! As for this new "working together" that Knoxville, Badlands and Jackson have announced......other than some date changes that didn't conflict with the Badlands schedule anyhow, the only real change is that Chuck has decided that running against the 360 Nationals isn't going to happen at Badlands. That does work out for his race teams that want to participate in the 360 Nationals which is a good thing. But that's the only benefit. In my opinion Tod has made an error in his 2017 schedule......but we'll have to wait and see....I don't think a 3 day WoO show integrated with the Jackson Nationals is a smart move. He shoild have left his Nationals traditional, the same as last year and years previous, and scheduled at most a two day WoO show early in the season. That would have made for two big sprint car events at Jackson Motorplex. If Jackson has now abandoned the 360 class as it appears at this time, that's another bad move. As for Badlands now rewarding 2 Feature and 3 Feature "sweep" money......bad idea! That's not going to grow his 410 class, and the 360 and 305 guys are more than likely going to take it in the shorts if the high dollar teams go after those monies. And I doubt there are going to be any 360 and 305 teams expand their programs to run all three classes which is an easy assumption. I don't understand why some owners/promoters think they have to come in and reinvent the wheel! Keep in mind these are only opinions, and I hope I'm wrong. Let's hope for all the tracks to have a successful season in 2017!

I totally disagree on your WoO Jackson Nationals opinion, but I respect it. That's what's GREAT about America, we can disagree on things and still keep it civil (at least I hope we can as long as the thread doesn't get hijacked to talk about Sammy, McCarl, Badlands or whomever else made people mad this week).
To me, this brings the Jackson Nationals BACK to what they were in their heyday. Take a look at past winners and you can see when it quit being a BIG SHOW (long before Todd took over).
From a business standpoint, having a 3 day WoO event is probably great for the bottom line (weather dependent of course) compared to 360's or just a 410 show with midwest based cars.
I'm far more concerned with the plethora of talented drivers out there without rides (locally, midwest, nationally) and the # of rides capable of hiring a driver than I am about Jackson adding the WoO to the Jackson Nationals.

I agree that back in the day when the Jackson Nationals was a WoO event it was a great weekend of racing. I'm just not certain that in today's market the fans will pay the WoO ticket prices for three nights.

WHAT!? Haven't you read the newspapers? America isn't great anymore.... not until January 20th. Then, and only then, will it be great, again.
Sorry, couldn't resist a little sarcasm. Haha.
I do agree with your opinion about disagreement though.

As someone who also attended the Jackson Nationals from the start it was a great show. C features, even a D once in a while. When the VFW has their troubles, it went down hill. I don't think they can justify a WoO show for 3 days without raping the fans..... Crowds are small till the finally night. Which is why you see fewer and fewer 2-3 day shows. Put the sanction fees and all the other monies the tracks have to pay to get the outlaws put that into the purse or charge less at the gate.
I am so over the hype of having an outlaw show or even attending an overpriced no passing shit track show. Just my own opinion.

South Dakota voted to cap interest rates on payday loans at 36% APR. In the past, Brennen had said that would make his business unprofitable in the state and he would shut down his loan offices in the state- 10 of them- if it passed.

Agree with that WoO assesment. I stopped attending WoO shows 20 years ago with the exception of the Knoxville Nationals which in reality isn't a WoO show as Knoxville makes the rules for that event. I found the WoO unfair to locals, boring starting fastest cars in front, overpriced, overinflated prima donna egos of drivers and owners and extremely rude in post race pitside conversations. Haven't been back since 1996 and do not miss a thing and they obviously do not miss or need me. I have never been big on sanctioning bodies or organizations but I will have to admit the few USAC events I attended have been excellent racing and he personalities very easy to communicate with after the races. The irony of this situation is that when the WoO started back in 1978 the USAC and WoO were the complete opposite of this current trend!!

It will be interesting to see what happens at Wastelands moving forward.
Will Chuck be willing to continue throwing money at it after the people voted to kill his cash cow or will he want the track to stand on its own and show a profit?
