The $250,000 Rock N Roll Gold Cup didn't actually pay $250,000.

With all of the added payouts throughout the weekend, the final number paid out...to the penny...was $300,000.

Next weekend, BMS owner Chuck Brennan is giving out free tickets to Medical Professionals and First Responders in the Sioux Falls area.

Congratulations to Chad Boespflug (non-wing) and Rico Abreu (wing) for winning the Gold Cup and taking home $50,000 for the win.

With his Saturday win added in, Chad won $60.000!

The announcers should take a bow! Very listenable and informative. Did a great job on all classes of racing.

Great racing in both winged and non-winged. Really good finishes. I hope the track does this event again.

Where are all the numnuts posters on here that were talking out their asses as usual and saying the payout was gonna be adjusted downward? As usual Badlands made it right for the racers that DID support them. My only question is WHERE IN THE HELL WERE THE WINGED 410s? Non wing guys were there from CA, AZ, OH, AL, IN and all basically all over, winged guys not so much. If you were a 410 driver within 200 miles of Brandon why in the world would you NOT support a race paying this much. For decades now local racers have bitched (and rightfully so) about how the payoffs sucked then they have a show like this and don't race it? As far as it not being a financial success come on it isnt 1961 and the Knoxville Nats are guaranteed to have shitloads of cars and packed grandstands, it isnt 1971 and the World 100 is guaranteed to have shitloads of cars and packed grandstands. The first few Chili Bowls were financial flops too, the first few Knoxville Late Model Nationals were financial flops now those events are HUGE money makers for those promoters. It now takes a few years to make a "big event" a big profit maker  fortunately Brennan has the financial wherewithal to do so.

As fans yes we will have our pissing matches on Hoseheads "Tastes Great - Less Filling", "Port Royal - Lincoln Speedway" , "Knoxville - Badlands" thats human nature.

As a racer make no mistake about this if you were bitching about payoffs for the last 20+ years and you aren't supporting what Badlands is doing you are slashing your own throat. I can promise you there are promoters all over the country watching Badlands with great interest on how this plays out. If this fails those promoters will have NEW ammunition to throw out their bullshit " increasing the purse doesn't increase car counts or crowds why just look at what happened at Badlands"....And if you were bitching about racing for the same purse in 2014 that you raced for in 1992 dont be crying in your beer after numerous price increases at the pit pass gate, ticket gate , concession stands, etc you are racing for the same money in 2036 that you raced for in 2014. Racers, fans, lovers of dirt track racing in general WE ALL NEED BADLANDS TO SUCCEED OR IT WILL SET BACK RACING SEVERELY.

Not just meant as a knock at winged 410 racers, Saturday they had a 2000 to win 305 show and ELEVEN cars showed, WTF?

Cool!  What do you think it would take to get the car count and crowd numbers up for next year?

Just a thought, because I don't know if it's a reason for the small Racesaver Sprint turn-out or not, but Eagle runs the Racesaver IMCA Sprints every Saturday. Add in the fact that some folks are running here early to get a feel for the track in advance of the Racesaver IMCA Sprint Nationals, that may well have affected the car count.

I am lucky enough to work at one of the best tracks
anywhere.

Well at least I wasn't one of the "numnuts" you referred to. I didn't think the payout would go down. As for the bitching drivers over the past 15-20 years, those that were bitching and winning are still around. Too many drivers that weren't winning have gone by the wayside. So, consider yourself a driver today, and you know you really don't have a  snowballs chance in hell of winning the $50,000.00, and you don't really even have much of a chance if any to finish top ten. Where the hell are you going to be one week after the Nationals? Back in the '80's very early '90's the Jackson Nationals was a WoO show, it was held the very next weekend after Knoxville. The WoO car count was usually around 20 plus the local drivers from Knoxville, Jackson and Sioux Falls always ran the event. So the field was pretty good. But as much as we thought that there would be additional drivers from around the country at Jackson because of the Nationals, it just never happened. They all went home. Now we don't have the number of cars to draw from that we once had.  Jackson ran Saturday nights back then and so did Knoxville of course. Both had good car counts. Too much has.....and hasn't changed from those days. I've said it before, but purses that are too top heavy are going to leave the under funded teams sitting at home, especially this time of year.

Here's an idea Badlands Speedway......

Since the 410 sprint car whiners and fans don't want to support a race paying that kind of money why don't you give the Lucas Oil Late Model Series a call and offer up that kind of money for a race and watch what happens. See the late model teams across the country could give a rats azz what track/sanction is fueding with what track/sanction because if there's good money being paid they'll be there. Take a trip to Eldora for the World 100 or the Knoxville Late Model Nationals and throw out those dollar figures to the late model teams and see the response they give you. I pretty much guarantee you won't walk away disappointed!

The USAC guys loved every bit of it.  they were very positive on their Twitter accounts about the entire weekend.  Although I'm sure $50k had something do with that :-)

I'm not positive of this but I would bet that the Badlands car count was affected at least a little by the WoO race at Angell Park that was co-sactioned by the IRA Sprints, as well as the $15,000 to win ASCS National race in Sedalia, MO. These were points races for all 3 series. Without looking into it too much, I'm going to say those two races alone kept at least 10-15 teams from attending the Gold Cup. McCarl took the weekend off entirely.

There are multiple reasons why drivers, teams, owners, decide not to race at events. Based upon your theory newbeevur, every car in the US should of been at Knoxville during the nationals, when you have a 20% chance of making at least $10k, at a minimum. Money isn't everything, look at the Chili Bowl. How much does that race pay to win?

Some teams have commitments, points to chase, have better chances at winning a nice purse at other tracks, don't want to travel, etc.

What were the car counts?

I believe they started with 26 winged cars and 32 non-wing.

Add to that the fact that he had the winged cars race on Friday night, the same night that those ND cars race up in ND.

It made absolutely no sense to run winged cars on Friday night on the one weekend of the entire year that he didn't have to compete against Knoxville on Saturday night.  Unless, his whole intention of doing so was to try to get the WoO drivers to run his non-wing race on Saturday night.

If he had run the winged cars on Saturday night so the ND guys wouldn't have had a race at home and worked with the NSL/Knoxville and WoO he would have likely had those 60 cars he was expecting.

If he wants to make his RnR Gold Cup (and for that matter his track) something big he's going to have to learn to play nice with others.

Ok, try this.

If he wants his track to succeed he needs to stop being such a dick so that others will like him and work with him.

Does that work for you?
