USAC Southwest Sprints, Midgets and TOMS Highlight Big Two Nights in Lawton!
 
 
Lawton, Oklahoma – August 15, 2016 - It will be busy week for the famed red-clay quarter mile oval of Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Oklahoma this week as the track will host two big events that will satisfy even the pickiest of race fan.
 
Action begins this Wednesday night (August 17) as the fourth annual “Freedom Tour” featuring the USAC Southwest Sprint Car non-wing series will make the trip up from their home base of Arizona in an event that will be the first of four for the tour. They will also be joined by the POWERi West Midgets  
 
Some of the top non-wing 360-ci sprint car drivers will be in competition, including touring regulars R.J. Johnson, Charles Davis, Jr., Joshua Hodges, Dennis Gile, Ty Mihocko, Shon Deskins, Mike Martin and Shannon McQueen.
 
They will do battle against track regulars Kyle Ezell, Shawn Bloomquist, Koby Barksdale as well as Oklahoma drivers Danny Smith, Kevin Risley, Ryan Padgett, Casey Wills, Kyle Clark, David Stephenson and various others.
 
The POWERi West Midgets are led by current point leader Grady Chandler, who holds a 20-point lead over Steven Shebester. Touring regulars expected include Blake Edwards, Jason McDougal, Kade Morton, Hunter Fischer, Michelle Decker, Matt Sherrill, Ty Hulsey and Andrew Deal.
 
Grandstand adult general admission is just $15; Students and seniors 60 years and older $10, Kids six and under $2.
 
All pit passes are $35. Gates open at 6:00 PM and race action slated for an 8:30 PM start time.
 
Then on Saturday night the popular Texas Outlaw Modified Series (TOMS) will make their second appearance of the season and final appearance of the season. When the tour last made the trip to Lawton back on July 16th it was Triston Dycus outdueling Phillip Houston to win the twenty-five lap main event.     
 
Touring regulars include Dycus, Josh Landers, Clyde Dunn, Jr., Wesley Veal, Sam Cox, Chad Ewell, Colby Smith, Shawn Gammage, Troy Taylor and Mike Dillard.
 
Current point leader Stanley Reed, Jr. will lead the local track regulars in hopes for an upset over their touring counterparts. Also expected to defend the “home turf” are James Reed, C.A. Nix, Lucas Steele, Travis Bragg, Thomas Nunley, Randy Golden, Jayman Gregory, Jason Hilliard, Kelly King, Shawn Johnson and Chris Cary.
 
Also running Saturday night will be the tracks championship sprint, limited modified and wingless limited sprints.
