Emmett Hahn said on a local Tulsa news cast tonight that they are putting deal together to have Carl race at this years Chili Bowl. He also said that Jimmy Johnson would be there with his father-in-law from Muskogee to watch.

Great, just what the Chili Bowl needs. More morons decked out in their color coordinated, matching NAPCAR outfits...

Agree.... or some NHRA d!ck that is bored and needs a publicity fix over the winter. It would be a hell of a lot more interesting if they made the bowl a true midget race with ALL midget drivers instead of a "celebrity" race. It has gotten almost to the point of ridiculous with the no-name drivers entering. I do not mean no-name midget drivers as they are trying to hone their skills and they have a perfect reason to be there. I can even enjoy the sprint car drivers that jump into a midget once a year, as they look racy and can seem to handle the cars like they are meant to be ran. But the rest need to stay the hell in the stands and let this race be a true "Midget Nationals."

Ya suppose that they'll make Carl run the Tuesday night rookie show? (I just don't like the term "pre-qualifier" ) It'll help boost ticket sales on Tuesday and give CE more seat time for when it really counts.

I'm not against the "celebrity drivers" as long as they are treated equally and that seems to be the case in Tulsa. It helps raise awareness in our favorite brand of motorsports on several levels.

I posted about 5 years ago when Tony Stewart started getting a following in NAPCAR that it would be tougher to get tickets for the Chili Bowl because of all of the autograph seekers. Sure enough, it is coming true.

If a person wants to enter, so be it, it's a free country. But the one that irks me are the onetime wonders that have never raced on dirt. at least McCreadie has a dirt background. If these onetime wonders want to impress me, show up at the "other" Midget Nationals...

Hawk, the argument could be made that Carl Edwards has just as much applicable experience as T-Mac2. Both certainly have more laps on a dirt track than at least half of the Tuesday night field.

Carl is one heck of a driver, and after seeing what he did at Cowtown in an ASCS Sooner show I believe that he can handle a midget.

Also with all of the NASCAR drivers that's more TV time, especially if one flips.

If anything the bowl seems to be turning into more of a true IROC, more than what they got now.

Edwards will flip himself or wreck someone just like the Whelen Modified race at New Hampshire. He won't win the race, so no worries.

Even though McCreadie didn't have much midget experience (2nd time in one), I believe that his father had raced midgets, so it wasn't something entirely new to him. Plus, I think alot of these onetimers look at it as a novelty.

Edwards started out on dirt didn't he? He talks about racing Silver Crown, but I don't know if it was asphalt only or not. Didn't someone mention that he was a Hoser at one point, posting on here looking for a ride?

Carl ran Modifieds here in Missouri and a few Silver Crown races on pavement. He was known here in Missouri as the "guy with the business cards".

The only person I ever remember chatting with on here that was looking to "move up" was Davey Ray.

Wasn't Carl the guy that had his mug and ride wanted advertised in NSSN for over a year?

Like it or not folks, "THE CHILI BOWL" is and will always be special, but times are a changing. Those of us who are verterans of this event(15 years)have seen many things change throughout the years. The fact that Carl Edwards wants to come play in the dirt should be no big deal.. Hell he is just another race driver. As he found out at Cowtown Speedway(TX) back in April, the competition is a lot more aggressive on the ole' bullrings than he has been used to with the corporate figure heads in NASCAR. He did rather well though, and I am sure he will do fine at the "BOWL."

Carl Edwards doesn't bother me much. Hearing that Jimmy Johnson is going to show his mug makes me want to puke...

I'll agree with that, but at least he won't attempt to drive. I see no need to trot him out in front of the grandstands to introduce or interview him, just let him stand there and get ignored by real race fans
