My wife and I are going to be driving through the Pevely, MO area later this year and I would like to possibly take in a show at the Federated Auto Parts Raceway (I-55). I am an above knee amputee, wear a prosthesis, and use an electric mobility scooter to get around. I have a number of questions?
1. We will be staying at the Drury Inn St. Peters in St. Peters, MO. I believe that's about a 50 mile drive. Can you provide any information about the road, how long it would take, etc.
2. What sort of handicap acceessible viewing accommodations are there? For example is there any sort of a raised area on which I could park my scooter and watch the races? Stairs of any sort would be a no-no.
3. What sort of handicap accessibility do the restrooms provide? For example there is a track in Casa Grande, AZ that is now off limits (unless I water a cactus out in the parking lot) that has about eight steps down to the restroom which would be a bit of a challenge on the scooter.
Thanks in advance for any information you can provide.

according to google maps st peters to pevely track around 57 minutes if u take I-70 east to I-270 south to I-55 south. roads down aren't bad ther interstate. can become congested at times but not bad. i usually sat on the front stretch in the middle up at top and there was a observation deck up there. i am not sure if this was for vip or hadicap. may want to call track at 636-479-3219. the website says they are there most days of week during racing season if no one answers leave phone number and name will call back. i believe the hours are 9am to 4pm central. they should be able to answer your questions

I have only been once, so I am afraid I cannot answer many of your questions. However, from my one visit, I do remember several items. The track is very fast. It definitely is woth the trip. Every slide job was an adventure.
I went for the IronMan (WOO and POWRi). I was amazed on how much dust/dirt/grit was thrown around the place. I normally bring safety glasses with me to any race, but many people acutally had safety goggles on. Also, a fair number of people also had on a breathing mask/bandana to protect thier face. I actually took my hat off of my head to cover my face. I would like to think it was a one off occurance, but with so many people prepared for it, I think it is pretty common.
I was not overwhelmed by the facility. It was not run down, but it was not very impressive. It seemed to your run of the mill dirt track.
There is another web site dedicated for the St Louis area. They may have more information.

Ditto on the dust and grit settling on the fans. Been to tracks all over the country and the dust was the worst I have ever experienced. Fans stood up after each sprint heat to shake the dust out of their hair. But the racing is exceptional.
