Longdale Speedway Media Team

Longdale OK, July 5th 2016 – The 3rd Annual Longdale Speedway America Proud weekend is complete for another year. With weather forecasts not looking positive all week the Longdale team decided to roll the dice and move forward and it all worked out. Fans were treated to two nights of a very racey surface and competitive racing in all six divisions. Grand Nationals, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Sport Mods, Intermediate Sport Mods and Pure Stocks.

Saturday night’s action went from excitement on the track to excitement in the sky as one of the largest fireworks displays in the area lit up the sky over the speedway to the fans delight.     

The night’s action began with qualifying heat races for Grand Nationals, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Sport Mods, and Intermediate Sport Mods.

At Intermission fans got a chance to visit the concessions stand for food and beverage along with Herb’s Smoke Shack for his famous smoked ribs and turkey legs. A newly added Sno Cone hut was a big hit for the weekend. Fans were also anxious to visit newly renovated Souvenir shop to get in on the limited supply of America Proud event shirts and check out all the new Longdale Speedway Souvenirs.

On the Podium Saturday:

Grand National winner was: (79e) Dustin Exline followed by (27) Lance Sessions and (9d) Chris Pitts.

On top of the IMCA Modified Podium was (21) Troy Gemmill and (9) Cole Traugott in 2nd and (7L) Nate Moore in 3rd.

IMCA Stock Car division was won by (12r) Hesston Shaw and (47) Landon Maddox in 2nd and (3) Logan Macy 3rd.

The IMCA Sport Mods put on a great show with (09) Robert Elliott taking the win (21b) Brandon Kenny in 2nd and (42r) Ross McCartney in 3rd.

Intermediate Sport Mod racers making the podium were (30s) Brad Savoie and (14r) Daniel Riley in 2nd and (5r) Claude Roach in 3rd.

Pure Stock Winner (81) Tyler Scruggs was followed across the checkers by (07) Derek Kretchmar and (62h) Benjamin Haddox in 3rd.

On The Podium Sunday:

Grand Nationals top three were (9d) Chris Pitts (79e) Dustin Exline and (14) Steve Smith.

The IMCA Mods had (9) Cole Traugott taking the win (21) Troy Gemmill 2nd and (57) Carl Conley in 3rd.

IMCA Stock Car winner was (12r) Hesston Shaw (620) Gregory Gutt in 2nd and (1) Scott Miller in 3rd.

The IMCA Sport Mods winner was (21b) Brandon Kenny (09) Robert Elliott 2nd and (71) Jessie Hoskins in 3rd.

Intermediate Sport Mods atop of the podium was (5r) Claude Roach and (25p) Paul Blocker in 2nd and (50) Garrett Donley in 3rd.

The Pure Stocks winner was (81) Tyler Scruggs with (33) Leighton Clift in 2nd and (437) Kellen Downing in 3rd.

Next Up –

Saturday July 16th - Round #11 of the Longdale Speedway Racing Series. Adult grandstand admission will be $10, seniors and military $8, and age 6 to 12 are $5 and 5 and under are free!   

Pit gates will open at 4:00 PM with grandstands opening at 5:30 PM. Hot laps at approximately 7:00 PM and opening ceremonies at 7:30pm and heat races immediately following. Longdale Speedway is wide fast semi banked 3/8- mile dirt track with a clay racing surface. Longdale features a gravel pit area off of the back stretch with a concrete viewing area. The pits also include concessions and a full parts store including tires and fuel. A concrete wall perimeter surrounds the track with an electronic scoreboard, television quality lighting, aluminum grandstand seating 2000 along with a souvenir shop, sno cone hut, concessions and Herb’s Smoke Shack featuring ribs and turkey legs. All of these features making Longdale Speedway the premier dirt track in Oklahoma.
