ARDC Returns for a Spectacular Double Header Weekend

The Mighty Midgets Return to Linda’s Friday, 7/1 and Lanco Saturday, 7/2

After an almost three week break the wingless midgets return to action Friday, July 1st at the Jonestown 1/4 mile for the first of a two race weekend.

Brett Arndt took the checkers at Linda’s on April 23rd in a race that saw three wide and side by side racing at its best. Arndt and Brett Wanner battled for the lead and swapped slide jobs while Nick Wean and Alex Bright stayed in close pursuit. The top four were under a blanket a few times while Wean hugged the bottom and Arndt rode the cushion. Arndt went on to take the checkers with Alex Bright second.

Look for more sliders and wheel banging as the midgets return to the bull ring.

Saturday, July 2nd marks the third visit to the Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway by the midgets in the tracks history. Ryan Greth took the win last year in the Star Spangled Havoc race. While some naysayers think the midgets don’t belong on the 1/8 mile track, short track fans will tell you the midgets on the curb at LANCO is certainly a hair raising thing to watch.

The Clyde hosted the season opener for the ARDC April 2nd and saw current point leader Alex Bright take the checkers. While the second installment of the midgets at LANCO didn’t provide the curb banging excitement of the first, it did prove that ARDC rookie and micro sprint standout “On the Fence” Kyle Spence is going to be a force to be reckoned with in the future on the central PA racing circuit.

The questions to be answered for the rest of the season start with can anyone beat the Bright brothers?

Brenden is coming off a two win weekend that saw him take the checkers at Williams Grove and Susquehanna cutting into his brother Alex’s points lead.

Bright is in prime position to take his first ARDC championship as he already has won three out of the four visits to Susquehanna Speedway with four more races at the York Haven, PA oval.

Alex Bright has two victories on the season (LANCO and Susquehanna Speedway) and currently leads the championship chase. He looks to back his Chili Bowl prelim win with his first ARDC championship.

Trevor Kobylarz has found his rhythm taking two second place finishes behind Brenden Bright at Williams Grove and Susquehanna. The second generation driver know how to get the job done as he won the 2013 championship.

Brett Arndt started the season strong with two wins (Linda’s and Big Diamond) but a DNF at Williams Grove put him behind the eight ball for the rest of the season. One thing is for sure look for the Essay Racing #46 to be in the thick of things down to the wire.

Ryan Greth rounds out the 5 in points and might be closer to the top if not for some bad luck. Greth has been very fast and looks to take what he learned racing with some of the best midget teams and drivers in the midwest.
