I have been going to Ventura as a fan for close to 15 years.Tonight,I am done with the place.
In recent weeks,a security policy has been implemented that included searching persons entering the track, wanding with a portable scanning device and now the demand that people entering empty their pockets and submit to an even closer inspection.
I,for one,am not going to submit.
I understand the need for a reasonable amount of security.I also understand that the track is a public venue, and that they can choose to do this.I fully believe that the stated reasons of "security " are a lie.
In this day and age,the dignity and rights of the average citizen in this country are assulted on a daily basis. This is simply one more assault on that dignity, and I refuse to allow it to be done to me.
I love sprint car racing, and I will miss it.However,my personal dignity are worth far more to me than a race will ever be.I would urge anyone with any self dignity to consider their own stance on this.

Such a rediculous reason. I think Ventura Raceway will be glad to not have you there to bash them for something that they probably had nothing to do with.
Good riddance

Hello Terry,my name is Eric and i am GM at Ventura Raceway.I am sorry you have had issues with security at the fairgrounds and i will look into this new policy.Emptying of pockets does seem somewhat extreme!! However-it is the fairgrounds security and not affiliated with Ventura Raceway. That being said,we do treasure all our customers-especially repeat customers.I will make some calls this week and find out what the deal is.Typically, they leave everyone alone unless you're trying to sneak in,or drinking in the pits.I cannot make any promises, but i do believe anyone entering our track should not be submitted to extreme measures, especially since the problems we mostly deal with are very minor, upset racers and such.If you have been coming for 15 years, you are very aware of the family oriented, laid back atmosphere. We are all here to have fun!! Please contact me directly at [email protected] during the week-i will try to have some answers for you.

No frisking Saturday night for the midget show. Love Ventura been going there since SCRA started racing there in 1994 I think. Keep up the good work Jim one of my favorite tracks.
