Walraven's car slowed in turns 1& 2 causing the first crash and then restarted in the front not knowing if his car would take off & run or not. He alone was responsible for 6 or 7 cars being torn up. As a vet with lots of laps in a sprint car I found it hard to believe he would take that risk on the restart rather than doing the right thing and volunteering to restart in the back in case his car shut off again.

Christian Bowman should have won that 305 A but thanks to Walraven he took home a torn up racer instead of a trophy.

Would have like to have seen that last restart a little more by the book. Dude jumped on the gas in 3/4 short of the 1st white line, Was hoping for a nail biter between him and Tmac. Oh well... Lot of car parts torn up tonight in the 305 A.. wowza.

Might cost more to run a 410 than 305.I know the thinking but Knoxville is plenty long and motor rules allow more money to be spent on engines. With a good field of cars they wont switch to RaceSaver which is an alternative to high cost engines and access to more 305s.They  might have to consider running them at the end so the people that prefer the 410s and 360s can leave instead of complain.

I thought for sure I would see Bill W. out in front of the ticket booth signing autographs!

First time I have ever been to Knoxville other than around Nationals time. Sure is different cruising around town without thousands of fans everywhere.

Luckily I did see Ethel, and sat with her last night and chatted. Havent seen her in a few years, good to catch up once again.

Did you forget teh other races that have happened over the years where the leader had an issue and restarted up front anyway (it has happened every season in every division).  Heck, Stevie Smith started up front with a BROKEN RIGHT FRONT SHOCK at an Outlaw show not that many years ago too (and he was a seasoned veteran that knew he was just going to be in the way (it was coming off a red flag), but he wanted to WIN.   It's up to the cars behind to pay attention too.

He caused the red that led to the restart when his car quit. He had no idea if it would take off and run on the restart. Just because Stevie Smith was a moron once that does not make it ok.

The guys behind him had to follow him past the cone. What were they to do? Hang back 10 car lengths to make sure Walraven's car would run?

others have held back.   Jon Agan stayed back off Dustin Selvage when his wing panel came off and caused a yellow (hit Justin Clark as I recall).   Jon stayed back on the restart just in case Selvage went to the bottom and slid across the track.

One of hte Phillips boys (Tasker I think) ran out of fuel coming to the orange cone once, guys behind him scattered and went below the cone to not cause a wreck.  None were penalized for going below the cone.

There are very few (if any) drivers that will give up the lead just becuase their car is sputtering or jumping out of gear, low on fuel, etc., etc..   To put the blame on one guy is riduculous, the others could have held back (or maybe none were observant enough to notice he was having issues).

I feel bad for those with torn up racecars, but put them in Walraven's shoes and they all would have done the exact same thing IMO.

It was a very quick unplanned trip to look at an "older brother" for my Nova. I'll be back out to Iowa in a couple weeks to pick the "older brother" up and bring it back to Indy. Unfortunately it will be like on  Thursday and or Friday,so I wont be in town for the races, but I do plan on bringing my real camera with me and go back to the Hall of Fame to take some photos.

Actually since he went to the work area during a closed red he should have restarted at the rear.

Bowman TRIED to miss him. That's why he ran over his right rear!

All I know is there are several guys very unhappy with Mr. Walraven now.

It was a bad deal for sure! I am pretty sure 99% of the drivers would have done the same thing as Walraven. Theyre racecar drivers remember. Seems to be a lot of drama each week from this class. On a postive note the racing has been excellent this year with great finishing times. Lasoski looks strong!

Anything around on Thursday night? I could come out Wednesday, but it'd be nice to have something else to go to if I did that. As of right now I was gonna fly out on Thursday or Friday.
