NEWSFLASH: Bill Balog aka, the Alaskan Cheesehead and his domination, yes, domination of the IRA interupted by "outlaw" NSL venture.

To his credit, the 17B goes down to I-80 last night and comes in a stellar 19th in the "A" main. No idea if there were mechanicals or if he just got spanked. This again shows you can be the bully in a series where most of the guys are weekend warriors and being an "outlaw", where the big boys of said travelling series smile at declared "outlaws" when they come through the pit gate (TMac sure did).

The Alaskan cheesehead comes back to WI tonight to play in the cornfield (aka Wilmot). WIll be intesting to see how this goes, plenty of stout competition on a track that sometimes equalizes the big spenders (remember the 20M winning the Gumout feature)...

I didn't care for Dick Trickle, Scott Hansen, Dale Earnhardt or Joe Roe either. I'm an underdog kinda guy.

What a stupid post.  We are all dumber for reading this, I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul.  I remember watching Bill spank the NSL guys in Jackson until he lost a tire in the last few laps.  Funny thing, last night the speedshifttv guys were saying how Bill is a low budget operation.  Not sure what your "hard on" for him is but you just come across sounding stupid and  incompetent .  ** disclaimer**.  If this post was facetious, then you get a pass..

He's just stating facts.   I see a couple travelers came to Wilmot last night and guess what? Balog didn't dominate.   I've said it many times before but nobody wants to accept the fact that the IRA isn't steeped in talent anymore.   The IRA used to show up at Knoxville and be competitive.   Now they don't even go.

If he had to race against Roe, Whitney, Hensley, Mock, Kertcher. Winker, Moulis, Reinke, Young,  Goedon, etc....like it was 10 years ago, I'm pretty sure I know what would and wouldn't happen.  People need to wake the fuck up and quit being politically correct and remember how good the series was at one time.   It's embarassing to compare this era to that one.

Good post.

Here is some truth for you....Wilmot was NEVER a corn field.  It was a swamp.  Get your facts straight...lol   Balog was a non factor, did othing all night.  Unless you call fifth factoring in the equation

I don't recall the details but I seem to recall talking to Bill last summer while he was chasing the NSL and at one point it seems like he said something about having to borrow a motor to keep going.  They don't run up and down the road with one of those massive haulers full of spare cars and motors.  On top of that he's one of the most fan friendly drivers I know.  I get the impression that a lot of fans will get a bug under their bonnet about one driver or another without ever getting to know them personally.  Anytime a McCarl, Lasoski, Swindell, Dobmeier, Tatnell or the like show up at an IRA race you're looking at good equipment, years of knowledge and a ton of talent.  I don't see where that's a bad thing, it can only make the IRA drivers better to compete agains proven winners.  Truth be told I see a lot of IRA teams with good equipment so Bill doesn't really stand out in that respect.

Go away troll. You must have missed Heskin spinning on the first lap in front of the 17B sending them both close to ROF but no caution came out.

Im surprised you didnt like Dick Trickle, your obviously a fairly big dick yourself.

You're a politically correct sheep.   The real point is is that the IRA isn't nearly as talent laden as it was  not that long ago.  He wouldnt dominate the local races if he had that level of competition on the track along side of him  racing to win every weekend.

The IRA is not in the same league as some of the upper tier 410 series. Not a knock as its a great series. The drivers you mention have never won outside of the IRA. Bill Balog is the best driver to ever come out of the IRA. Period. Enjoy it, the guy is talented.

Gee Big Daddy, I didn't see where you finished at Wilmot!

Been following the IRA since the mid-60's. The IRA has always been a series for part time racers and compete on primarily short tracks. When they get to big half miles oe even a fast track like Cedar Lake, they struggle. Balog is the best to ever come out of the IRA and I believe he finished in the top 5 in the NSL in 2015. Not too shabby!

It's really a  "Chicken sh*t" move to rip a racer and the IRA when you have no skin in the game!

News Flash:Big Daddy E gets easily offended by a talented driver with good equipment beating him or his favorite driver.

Be thankful that you got to see him race & Bully is a term that is used too loosely.

Do you want rules to be set up that if you're winning too much you can't race in the serier, or at a track anymore? Stop complaining and enjoy the races.

You people need to find something more fulfilling to do with your lives than rip Bill and/or the IRA on a message board. Best of luck to you.

AMEN!

i give Steve a ton of credit for keeping Wilmot and the IRA going. He doesn't get enough credit for his efforts.

Please support Wilmot and the IRA! If not for Steve, there might not be any racing in our area. Then people will REALLY have a reason to complain?

FWIW.....If I remember correctly, Bill spanked the NSL when they race at eagle last fall for the Nebraska Cup.....even though there were only 15 cars, most of the rest of the NSL hitters were there.....Bill's always seemed like a nice guy whenever interviewing or talking to him, and although I really don't know his situation, seems to hold his own against most of the larger funded teams.........as someone said above, he kind've got a bad deal last Friday with Heskin's 360 right in front of the field and no caution (although we usually always throw the yellow when a sprint spins in our area, every sanctioning group proabably has different procedures)........thats all............SC,  out.
