Lol it's only $35 in advance. I live in Rockford so this a sweet deal for me. Asphalt is usually one groove up top so it will be interesting.

Been to some late model shows there, it's a tight 1/4 mile, should be a wild one. Plus gets the WoO close to the Chicago market... maybe bring in some new fans.

Watched Dick Trickle and Joe Shear go at it during the Rockford Nationals back in the day. Not many people know that a teen age Doug Wolfgang was in Joe Shear's pit......he and his parents lived in Rockford back then.

CORRECT! Illinois is an under utilized state for Sprint Cars. Wish they ran closer to me so that I did not have to travel so far to run them!
Never hit stationary objects!

Isn't that the truth! I am just in disbelief that I can run 40 miles away and see sprint cars let alone the WOO.
For those of you not familiar with Illinois, prior to the announcement of this race, Illinois' only claim to fame was that our Governors go into license plate manufacturing after their term has ended. (Well-everyone except for our current governor who is trying to make sure there is no manufacturing left in this state whatsoever when he leaves)

I was looking at Rico's schedule. He will be in the area both weekends before and after this race. Has anyone heard if they plan on using a gate in turn 3, they have a nasty point.

Someone needs to save this post for when another Lincoln vs. Port Royal thread comes up to remind all the spoiled rotten fans in Pa who talk shit about certain tracks just how lucky we are to have so much quality sprint car racing in such a small area. It sounds like this is going to be a neat show. I looked up some videos on YouTube just to see what the track was like and if they get a decent surface down, this is gonna be a good one. Tight quarter mile with high banking....doesn't get much better than that.

I agree--if they get it right, it will be very good. Even if they don't get it right, at least they tried. They can't get blamed for not putting any effort into it at least, right? The paved races I have seen there have been less than exciting. But I am picturing it covered with clay with sprinters on it and I get a totally different vision!
And yes, I agree: please don't complain about your local sprint car track. I complained about our local track (and it wasn't even a sprint car track) and now its gone and I miss being able to head down there on a Saturday night.

I actually did not think that the Extreme Asphalt Sprint Car race that they had at Rockford a few years ago was all that bad. Yes, it was follow the leader, but that is pretty much the nature of asphalt racing. They most certainly were hauling ass out there though. With the banking that place has it should be a real interesting show. I am looking forward to it.
I also agree that anyone who has access to Sprint Car racing on a weekly basis that is also close to home needs to stop complaining.

I am trying to picture the line at Rockford that the WOO drivers will like to run. It looks good in my imagination. The asphalt guys pick up a TON of speed diving out of the apex of corners 3 and 4 so that should be interesting.
